Jane Griley, Kristen Thompson, Mary Thompson.
Thirty members and friends of La
Traviata attended the Afternoon Theater
Party – organized by Mary Busche - to
see “My Fair Lady” at the Rose Center
Theater. This was a sparkling production
of Lerner and Lowes classic musical.
Afterward, the group went to have drinks
Board members of the Flying
Dutchman Chapter of the Segerstrom
Center for the Arts were treated to a
luncheon by Chairman Bobbitt Williams
at a country club in Newport Beach in
late August to plan events for the coming
year. Those attending were Bobbitt
Williams, chairman, Carol Kirkwood,
membership; Mike Nielsen, Ways and
Means; Jan Goss, Recording Secretary;
Gayle Wayne, hospitality; Charlene
Bauer, parliamentarian; and Frieda
Koester, publicity.
The group planned five meetings for
the year and enthusiastically supported
themes and entertainment for the
events. Details were outlined for the
September 29th fund raiser which was
held at the lovely home of Marlene and
Chris Neilsen. A program of Broadway
Musicals was performed by students from
the Orange County School of Arts. It was
a perfect evening that provided delicious
food, exchanges of chat about summer
activities, and a big welcome to many
guests.
La Traviata was one of the early
chapters of the Guilds – created in
1978 – eight years before the opening
of Segerstrom Hall, as a cohesive,
countywide volunteer support group
11
to promote the vision of a world class
performing arts center in Orange County.
La Traviata members are proud of their
role in helping to accomplish this vision.
Today – we support local theater as well
as performances at Segerstrom Center for
the Arts.
