Kathleen Moore won First Place in
the Orange County Fair this summer for
her quilting pillow made from her late
father’s silk bow ties. She pieced them
together and placed two large ties on the
front section . It was a lovely way to honor
her father’s memory.
The members enjoyed luncheon
at the Culinary Arts restaurant “Fifty
Forks” where the unique menu is created
by the students and faculty. Two tables of
members started with an amuse of exotic
juices served in an aperitif glass followed
by shellfi sh in a saffron broth. Dessert of
a many-layered apple cake completed the
meal. Members toured the upstairs teaching
facility after the meal.
The fall membership luncheon was
held in September at Sebastian’s Italian
Restaurant. Todd Ventura of Bill’s
Camera Shop spoke of composing successful
digital shots.
We’re looking forward to the annual
cocktail party to be held on October 6
at the recently renovated home of Sharon
Larson on Davenport Island. We’re looking
forward to the event to begin the
holiday season in the Harbour.

The first Huntington Beach Vintage
Surf Charity Auction and Ocean Art
Sale was held in August at the Hilton
Waterfront. The Waverider Auction’s goal
was to commemorate and circulate some
of surfing world’s best quality offerings
of surfboards, surf art, and memorabilia.
The live auction was attended
by serious collectors, hobbyists as well
as spectators. Many items spurred
competitive bidding both in person and
through live on-line bidding. Everyone
went away with good deals and good
memories. A Portion of the proceeds
will benefit four local charities including
CHOC Children’s.
The annual CHOC Walk at
Disneyland will be held on Sunday,
October 14, 2012, and starts at 7 a.m. and
is completed before the parks open for

The Annual Fiber Arts Show will be
exhibited around the spacious rooms of
Mary Lundin’s home on Trinidad Island
on November 13. Over 80 entries including
beautiful quilts, needlework and
needlepoint, embroidery and wearable art
will be shown. Judges will award prizes in
each category.

members to come and see what the

raise a minimum of $50 from sponsors or
they can make the donation personally.
Proceeds benefit Children’s Hospital of
Orange County and CHOC at Mission.
The Walk is the largest fund raising
event for the hospital and it is a time when
families express their thanks to the doctors
and nurses who cared for their children.
Favorite Disney characters join the walkers,
cheering them on and providing
unique photo opportunities. At the end of
the 5K Walk, the celebration continues in
Downtown Disney® District where event
sponsors, hospital support groups, shops
and restaurants have special offers for
Walk participants. This year walkers will
also stroll through the all-new Cars Land,
located in the newly expanded Disney
California Adventure® Park!
