Huntington Harbour Garden Club continued...
Nature Center, the Bolsa Chica Land
Trust. Members are also actively involved
in maintaining the Rose Garden at the
Roger’s Senior Center and participate in
the Meals on Wheels Senior Outreach
of Huntington Beach. Early this year
a donation was made to Penny Pines in
honor of Carol Wood, a former Harbour
resident and past president of the HHGC.
The Penny Pines Program was initiated
in California in 1941. It is a statewide
conservation program to help maintain
the National Forests in California.
During the past 60 years, individuals as
well as organizations such as garden clubs,
service organizations, youth groups and
schools have raised millions of dollars to
keep our forests green and healthy.
The HHGC holds regular monthly
meetings on the third Tuesday of the
month. Lectures, presentations and
field trips are all organized to encourage
interest in all phases of home gardening,
to promote better horticultural practices,
and to stimulate interest in civic beauty.
Meetings are especially interesting and
lots of fun. Guests are welcome to attend.
