Members of the FINS “Supper Club”
met at the home of Rita and Bill Collins
for dinner and dessert after enjoying
the Cocktail Party at the home of Carol
Gallagher where members enjoyed the
delicious hors d’oeuvres of Prosciutto e
Melone and Chile Quiche Squares and
talked about their upcoming vacation.
Pearl Holmes is looking forward to her trip
to Mount Rushmore, June Ascolesi plans
include a wedding of her granddaughter
in San Diego with four days of plans

Racetrack and a three day stay at the El
Camino Resort in Carlsbad, Marian and
Jerry Galanis looking forward to their trip
to Greece this summer and Rita and Bill
Collins have a planned trip to Ireland.
A summer time dinner was served that
included an orange and avocado salad,
asparagus, rice and chicken with the
dessert being Rita’s recipe for a fresh
strawberry and blueberry pie with
whipped cream which was delicious

and was a big hit with the Supper Club
members.
Daytime Gourmet members take
a break from cooking in the summer
and every August they enjoy trying
out restaurants in the area. This year
they decided to return to Antonelli’s, in
Newport Beach, and repeat their menu
from their May installation of fi let of sole,
tossed green salad, and Panna Cotta for
dessert. We all enjoyed it immensely for
the second time this summer.
FINS members Carol Gallagher,
Maggie Flavia, Mary Johnston, Pearl
Holmes and Barbara Simone enjoyed an
excursion with the Rogers Senior Center
group to Disney Hall in Los Angeles in
August to see the program “Carmen
on Broadway” with the California
Philharmonic, and the LA Master
Chorale. The concert included four
excellent soloists. Lunch was served at the
Disney Hall Café.
The Annual FINS pre-Fourth of
July Party was held this year for over
forty members at the Rancho Del Rey
Clubhouse on Saturday, June 30. It was
really a Red, White and Blue Event as all the
tables had red, blue and white tablecloths
with red, white and blue large balloons
attached to the tables! Decorations were
planned and decorated by Rita Collins.
The event was a pot luck with members
bringing delicious Appetizers, Salads,
Main Dishes and Dessert. June Ascolesi
brought a beautiful dessert for the Fourth
of July, a 9 x 13 caked decorated as an
American Flag! Chairman of the Event
was Barbara Simone.
