<strong>Frankfurt</strong> has been an international trading<br />
centre for over 800 years. Its location in the<br />
heart of Europe has played a major role in<br />
this development. Today, Messe <strong>Frankfurt</strong><br />
(<strong>Frankfurt</strong> Fair & Exhibition Centre) hosts<br />
some 40 international trade shows every<br />
year, providing 355,678 square metres of<br />
floor space. The trade fairs on show attract<br />
hundreds of thousands of visitors from across<br />
the globe. The <strong>Frankfurt</strong> Book Fair, for ex<strong>am</strong>ple,<br />
is the leading event of the international<br />
publishing industry and a forum for the literary<br />
