Rob Paniora of Paniora Logging has been very impressed with the
Customer: Rural Contractors Ltd Model: 2 x Hitachi ZX120-3
With over 45,000 combined hours on the fleet of four Hitachis, the
decision was made by Rural Contractors Ltd in Te Awamutu to replace
two of them with two new ZX120-3 excavators — one with apex
shoes. It was an easy decision to continue with the Hitachi brand, due
to their low maintenance, reliability and resale value.
and is fitted with a JB hydraulic hitch.
When Sam Pemberton was looking for a large excavator for his
Hamilton-based company, it was only natural to add to his fleet of
six Hitachis. The ZX330-5g is needed for the big digs that Pemberton
Civil Ltd is involved with. With its good looks and digging capability
it has impressed everyone who has seen it.
Customer: Rosewarne Contractors Ltd Model: John Deere 2154D
Deere 2154D Log Loader. Nicknamed the Terminator, this particular
unit is fitted with a Power Clam Grapple made by CWS Industries in
Canada, for high-speed, high-production loading. After spending a few
days getting used to it, operator Tas was very complimentary as to the
capabilities of the grapple
and believed it would reduce
loading times on the skid.
Customer: Reed Contracting Limited
Model: John Deere 648H
Brian Reed surprised his workers this week when he
drove up to the job in a brand new John Deere 648H.
The crew were happy, especially the operator Jason, but
they also knew that there was going to be a lot more
wood on the landing as well.
Brian had been contemplating a new Deere skidder for
some time but I guess the deal was a good one. What
he likes about the new 648H is the big grapple, great
productivity and the low fuel consumption from the
tried and proven Deere 6068 tier-2 engine. “Simple is
best and I only deal with Cables for all the warranty
service work,” Brian says. He also liked the lock-up
torque converter, the fire-fighting water tank on the roof
and full-width blade.
Customer: Quality Roading Services
Model: John Deere 670GP
Quality Roading Services, Wairoa, have run with a
670GP John Deere Grader. The operator, Tom, who
some say was born on a grader, is really impressed
with the torque of the Deere, saying he is a gear up
on the previous machine and fuel consumption is
down. QRS have received the JDLink system, which
monitors the grader’s temperatures, hydraulics
and engine along with a whole host of diagnostic
capabilities. The joystick steering was sorted after
an hour or so. The comments were made that it was
just so easy to use, its put back Tom’s retirement
another 10 years. The advantage of this sort of
control system is that it should attract some young
replacements for our aging grader operators.
