POKER
The Sun City Anthem Poker Club wants you to join us for
a wonderful game of Poker. We play on Tuesdays from
noon to 4:00 p.m., Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to
10:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
We also have tournaments on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Come out and play with us. We are a friendly co-ed group.
We offer a wide variety of games and you don't have to
pay the casino's rake or tip the dealer. Just have fun!

PORCELAIN
Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. - noon., Anthem Center
The Porcelain Club invites new members to experience the
great joy of completing a porcelain project that will
be appreciated as a gift or enjoyed in one’s home.
Experienced members are available to share their expertise
on cleaning purchased Greenware, firing pieces using the
club's kiln, and painting porcelain pieces in China paint
and pastels to complete items such as Lladro figurines,
chess sets, nativity sets, tea and coffee sets, vases and dolls.
The Porcelain Club is pleased to announce that we are
fortunate to have Carole Beck join our club. She is available
each Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. - noon to teach
our members to paint porcelain items using China paints.
She works with members together as a group and
individually to teach painting techniques to our members.
To keep costs to a minimum for members, the club
provides the China paints, as well as some of the other
required painting supplies.

The Republican Club of Sun City
Anthem (RCSCA) meets at 10:00 a.m.
on the second Saturday of each month
in Independence Center. These
meetings are an opportunity to hear
stimulating speakers, engage in
question and answer sessions with the
speakers and have dialogue with
others on the important issues of the
day. We are approaching the most important presidential
election of our lifetimes, and being knowledgeable about
the issues is the key to our being successful in this election.
Speakers for our October 13 meeting will include:
Harvard "Larry" Lomax is the Clark
County Registrar of Voters. Larry
was appointed to the position
of Registrar in March 1999. During
his tenure, Clark County has
aggressively pursued technological
and administrative innovations to
improve the voting process. Clark
County was also the first county in
the nation to use the voter-verifiable
paper trail printer and for the last 15
years has set the standard for the
rest of the nation when it comes to implementing
technology into the voting process. Along with his duties
as Clark County’s Registrar, Larry has served as Nevada’s
appointed representative to the U.S. Election Assistance
Commission’s (EAC) Standards Board since its inception
in 2002.
Thomas Fay is Henderson District
Public Libraries' Executive Director.
In this role he budgets, plans,
organizes, supervises and manages
all aspects of the library district;
makes policy recommendations and
reports on library district operations
and plans; works to create partnerships
between the library and other
community agencies; develops new
funding for services through foundation,
partnerships and grants; and
researches community needs and implements appropriate
responses to those needs. The library district, an
independent special district within the City of Henderson,
is proposing an ad valorem tax rate increase of 2 cents per
$100 in assessed property value for the November 6 ballot.
We have an urgent need for volunteers to help during the
upcoming election campaign. All election volunteer efforts
are being coordinated through the Republican Team
Nevada office at 614-5900. Please call them if you would
