New Products, Services & Contracts New Products Radiation Detector The Canberra Cryo-Cycle Cryostat is a revolutionary innovation in the field of cryogenically cooled radiation detectors. This product is described as a “hybrid” cryostat because it utilizes both conventional liquid nitrogen and electric cooling. This arrangement, whereby the built-in cryocooler condenses the boiloff gas from an LN2 reservoir, provides the convenience of electric cooling and the reliability of liquid nitrogen cooling, something never seen before in this field. This capability overcomes one of the most common complaints against conventional electrically powered detector coolers which is loss of cooling during a power failure. With conventional electrically powered coolers, even a short power failure can result in downtime of 24-48 hours for the requisite warm-up/ cool-down cycle. There is also the ever present risk that the detector will not make a complete recovery following the temperature cycle. Analysis Software The ORTEC ® business unit of AMETEK Advanced Measurement Technology (AMT) has released the latest version of GammaVision-32 Gamma Spectroscopy Analysis software for highpurity Germanium detector spectra. This latest release, version 6.08, includes all changes necessary for compatibility with Microsoft Windows Vista operating system. In addition, all of GammaVision-32’s Help files have been converted to HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) increasing ease of access and functionality. GammaVision-32 version 6.08 includes updated analysis algorithms to improve accuracy and reliability. It also supports forthcoming industry standard ISO/DIS 11929 calculation methodologies and multiple languages in enhanced reports and graphical user interface. With iHose , if a leak occurs in the inner tube of the hose, the liquid will seep into the reinforcement area of the hose and will be immediately detected. Safety is greatly enhanced when the presence of a leak can be immediately determined. Undetected, a leak could eventually find it’s way through the outer casing of the hose. iHose has helical sensing wires within the reinforcement layer that will detect any conductive fluid that leaks through the inner tube of the hose before the outer casing is breached, allowing operators to shut down and assess the system before an environment impact can occur.
