Three-Tier Prescription Drug Approach When you have a prescription to fill, you have a choice among: • Generic (copay is the lowest) • Preferred (copay is higher than for generic drugs, but less than for nonpreferred drugs) • Non-preferred (highest copay) If you must have a particular medication that is not on the preferred list, out of preference or necessity, you will pay the highest copay. Remember, your out-of-pocket costs will be lower if you use an in-house UPHS pharmacy. Your medical card is not your prescription drug card. Contact CVS Caremark at 800-777-1023 if you need a replacement card.

You can fill any of your prescriptions for a 30-day or 90-day supply at any of the UPHS pharmacies for a lower copay. Filling a 30-day or 90-day supply is very convenient — drop off your prescription on your way to work and pick up your medication the next day.
