Became just the second TE in franchise history to catch three TD passes in a single game, joining Keith Jackson, who did so on 9/1/96 at Tampa Bay...Game marked the second multi-TD game of his career (vs. Baltimore, 12/7/09)...First TD came on the team’s opening drive of the game when he was split out wide to the left of the formation...Chicago was flagged for offsides, but he stuck with his route, freezing S Brandon Meriweather with a juke move near the goal line, and cutting to the inside to haul in a 6-yard throw from Rodgers to give Green Bay the early lead...Had his game-long 24-yard catch come on a back-shoulder throw early in the second quarter when he was motioned out wide to the right and ran vertically against S Craig Steltz...Two plays later, cashed in for his second TD to put the Packers up 14-0...On that play, lined up in the right slot and thought it was a called run...Came off the ball attempting to block LB Lance Briggs, but looked back to see Rodgers scrambling to his side and disengaged from Briggs just in time to make a diving catch at the goal line, falling into the end zone...Final TD came early in the fourth quarter when he was again split out wide to the right, releasing inside of CB Tim Jennings on a fade to the end zone...Caught the ball behind Steltz, who was late getting over, to extend the Packers lead to 27-10...Five of his seven receptions in the game went for 10 yards or more, and the only two that did not were his 6 and 7-yard TDs...Now has 21 catches for 270 yards (12.9 avg.) and three TDs in his last three games against Chicago. vs. Denver Broncos (10/2): Started the game and despite not having a gaudy statistical performance - three catches for 28 yards (9.3 avg.) - his presence was felt as the focus of Denver’s defensive game plan from a coverage standpoint...Drew a double team that allowed WR Greg Jennings to go uncovered and untouched for a 17-yard TD just before halftime...On the play, lined up wide to the right opposite CB Cassius Vaughn, but attracted help in the form of S Brian Dawkins who charged too far over to the sideline, allowing Jennings a free path to the end zone down the seam...Also showed his continued refinement of chip-blocking techniques, leveling DE Elvis Dumervil before going out on his route on a third-and-13 during the opening drive of the second half...On the play, Rodgers found WR James Jones for a gain of 18 yards on what was an eventual TD drive...Finley was awarded the ‘Big Hit’ honor for the week from the coaching staff for his effort on the play. at Atlanta Falcons (10/9): Had an up-and-down day from a receiving stand point, but hung tough and finished tied for second on the team with four catches for 67 yards (16.8 avg.)...Three of his four catches went for first downs on third-down plays, two of them third-and-longs. vs. St. Louis Rams (10/16): Started and finished with one catch for 20 yards, a reception he made on the offense’s opening drive of the game...Also helped create the hole used by RB James Starks on his game-long 15-yard run on a fourth-and-1 early in the second quarter...Pushed S Quintin Mikell to the outside, creating a large hole through left tackle for Starks to convert the first down...Rodgers hit WR James Jones on the following play for a 35-yard TD. at Minnesota Vikings (10/23): Held to just two catches for 13 yards, but scored his fourth TD in the third quarter, ultimately the difference in a 33-27 Green Bay win...On the TD, lined up tight to the formation along the line of scrimmage on the right side and ran an out route against LB E.J. Henderson, mirroring a scrambling Rodgers, who had rolled right to escape pressure...Used his speed and athletic ability to separate from Henderson just enough to make a diving catch of Rodgers’ throw just in front of the end line in the back of the end zone for the TD...Is now one shy of tying his single-season career high for TDs. at San Diego Chargers (11/6): Started and tied for second on the offense with five catches for 44 yards (8.8 avg.), and his career-high tying fifth TD catch of the season (also had five in 2009)...TD capped the Packers’ first possession of the game, coming on the first play after a pass interference call gave Green Bay the ball first-and-goal from the San Diego 5-yard line... Motioned to be split out to the right and was matched 1-on-1 with S Steve Gregory...Turned to gain position for the ball that was thrown to his back shoulder, and beat the safety on a jump-ball fade to tie the score at 7-7. vs. Minnesota Vikings (11/14): Posted a team-high 67 receiving yards on three catches (22.3 avg.)...First catch was a 25-yarder that converted a fourth-and-5 with the offense just beyond FG range...Also hauled in a 31-yard pass from QB Matt Flynn in the fourth quarter that set up a TD three plays later to extend the lead to 45-7, the game’s final score. vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11/20): Finished with one catch for 30 yards...On the play, turned to adjust to the ball in the air,hauling it in behind S Corey Lynch and securing it tightly to his body with one arm on the way to the ground...The offense would score three plays later to extend the lead to 21-10 late in the second quarter. at Detroit Lions (11/24): Made two catches for 38 yards (19.0 avg.)...Saw his game-long 26-yard reception come on the second play of the third quarter when he was split out to the left and matched in single coverage against S Amari Spievey...Ran a fade along the sideline and outjumped the defender, wrestling the ball away near midfield, sparking what was eventually an 11-play, 77-yard TD drive. at New York Giants (12/4): Placed second on the team with six catches for 87 yards (14.5 avg.) and his career-high sixth TD...Reached the 600-yard mark in the season’s 12th game, joining Paul Coffman as just the second TE in team history to record two 600-yard seasons (also had 676 yards in 2009)...Saw his TD come on a 12-yard play that capped the offense’s second drive of the first quarter...On the play, turned a quick-out vertically on what was a second-reaction play that saw Rodgers rolling to his right... Went low to catch a bullet from Rodgers before diving forward into the end zone to tie the score at 7-7...Also threw a decleating “thump” block on DE Dave Tollefson on a fourth-quarter play that allowed Rodgers to roll out and hit WR Jordy Nelson for a 13-yard gain and first down...Saw five of his six catches result in first downs or TDs and his critical 24-yard gain on the first play of the offense’s final possession of the fourth quarter enabled and
ignited the drive that resulted in a 31-yard game-winning FG by K Mason Crosby as time expired. vs. Oakland Raiders (12/11): Started the game and was the focus of heavy coverage throughout, not registering a reception...Was productive as a blocker, staying in on a pass in the second quarter to help LT Marshall Newhouse hold off LB Kamerion Wimbley, allowing Rodgers time to find Nelson for a 37-yard TD...Also executed a well-sustained block against Wimbley on RB Ryan Grant’s 6-yard TD in the second quarter to extend the Packers’ lead to 31-0. at Kansas City Chiefs (12/18): Overcame early drops in the first half to finish as the team’s leading yardage receiver, netting 83 yards on three catches (27.7 avg.)...Made each of his grabs in the second half and surpassed his previous career high for single-season yardage (676)...Made an excellent adjustment with the ball in the air to pull down his season-long 41-yard reception to the Kansas City 7-yard line in the third quarter...The offense would score three plays later on a 2-yard pass from Rodgers to WR Donald Driver...Also made a 31-yard catch and run in the fourth quarter to help key a TD drive that ended with an 8-yard rushing TD by Rodgers. vs. Chicago Bears (12/25): Finished with three catches for 20 yards (6.7 avg.) and his seventh TD of the season...Scored the game’s first TD, capping the offense’s 9-play, 80-yard opening drive of the first quarter on a 2-yard quick slant...On the play, was lined up wide to the left in man-coverage against LB Nick Roach...At the snap, released quickly to the inside to gain position and caught a rocket from Rodgers in front of LB Brian Urlacher and Steltz...Catch marked his fourth TD of the season against Chicago, the most by a Green Bay TE against an opponent in a season in franchise history and he became the first TE to accomplish the feat since San Diego’s Antonio Gates did the same against Kansas City during the 2005 season. 10 Matt Flynn, QB, 4th Year, Louisiana State 2011 Season: A developing passer enjoying his fourth season as Aaron Rodgers’ primary understudy, but appears primed to be a starter at the pro level...Has appeared in just four games in 2011, completing 2-of-5 attempts for 38 yards...Threw three TDs and posted a 100.2 passer rating in his first professional start in Week 15 of 2010 at New England in the absence of an injured Rodgers (concussion). vs. New Orleans Saints (9/8) - at Chicago Bears (9/25): Active, but did not appear in the game. vs. Denver Broncos (10/2): Saw his first game action of the season when he came on in relief of Rodgers late in the fourth quarter of a 49-23 victory... Was the victim of bad luck when his only pass attempt carromed off the fingertips of WR Randall Cobb and was intercepted by S Rahim Moore. at Atlanta Falcons (10/9) - at San Diego Chargers (11/6): Active, but did not appear in the game. vs. Minnesota Vikings (11/14): Came on in place of Rodgers in the fourth quarter of a 45-7 Green Bay win...Took the offense 66 yards in nine plays on his only true possession, ending it with a 3-yard TD run, the first rushing TD of his career. vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11/20) - at New York Giants (12/4): Active, but did not appear in the game. vs. Oakland Raiders (12/11): Entered the game in relief of Rodgers late in the third quarter with Green Bay leading 43-7...Piloted three drives, the first of which culminated with a 33-yard FG by K Mason Crosby, the Packers’ final points of the game. at Kansas City Chiefs (12/18): Active, but did not appear in the game. vs. Chicago Bears (12/25): Came on in place of Rodgers with 7:54 to play in the fourth quarter and the Packers ahead 35-18...Only saw action on one true possession (the second was a pair of kneel downs), and did not attempt a pass. 49 Robert Francois, LB, 2nd Year, Boston College 2011 Season: Versatile reserve LB who has spent time at both inside and outside LB positions during his career in Green Bay...Figures in on the various special teams units where he has made a career-high four coverage tackles, but has also seen the most extensive scrimmage playing time of his career in this his second season...Has appeared in 10 games with two starts...Saw his first significant defensive playing time of the 2011 season in Week 12 when injuries decimated the ILB position, playing the entire second half and recording a key INT in the game...Made his second career start the following week at the N.Y. Giants (Dec. 4) in absence of regular starters Desmond Bishop and A.J. Hawk who were both sidelined with calf injuries...Started again vs. Oakland in Week 14 in place of Hawk...Defensively for the season, has 21 tackles (15 solo), three passes defensed, two INTs and a forced fumble. vs. New Orleans Saints (9/8): Opened the season on the active roster for the first time in his career and dressed...Saw action on special teams, but did not record any statistics. at Carolina Panthers (9/18): Played on special teams, recording his first tackle of the season in the third phase when he teamed with fellow LB Brad Jones to take down RB Mike Goodson at the Carolina 17-yard line in the fourth quarter. at Chicago Bears (9/25): Active, but appeared only on special teams...Made the tackle on the team’s first kickoff of the game in the first quarter... Fought off a block from TE Kyle Adams and dropped WR Devin Hester at Chicago’s 22-yard line...Also had a decleat block on LS Patrick Mannelly on WR Randall Cobb’s 17-yard punt return late in the first quarter, winning the team’s “Big Hit” Award for the week. . vs. Denver Broncos (10/2): Posted one tackle in kickoff coverage when he brought down WR Quan Cosby at the Denver 22-yard line in the fourth quarter. at Atlanta Falcons (10/9): Appeared in the game on special teams but did not record any statistics. vs. St. Louis Rams (10/16) - vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (11/20): Inactive. at Detroit Lions (11/24): Saw his most extended playing time of the season on defense, coming on in relief of an injured A.J. Hawk (calf), finishing the second quarter and playing the entire second half at the ‘Buck’ LB position...Was the last man standing after fellow reserve LB D.J. Smith had already replaced an injured Bishop, who suffered a calf injury of his own... Finished the game with four tackles (three solo) and made an outstanding play to record his first career INT in the third quarter...Had given up short completions on back-to-plays on the Lions’ first drive of the second half... On the next play, dropped into zone coverage in the middle of the field as LB Clay Matthews carried TE Brandon Pettigrew down the seam behind him and to his left...QB Matthew Stafford tried to lead Pettirgrew with a throw over Francois’ head, but the LB adjusted and made a leaping INT at the Green Bay 34-yard line...The Packers offense would score a TD on the first play of the ensuing possession on a 65-yard TD pass from QB Aaron Rodgers to WR James Jones that extended the lead to 21-0 against the division-rival Lions. at New York Giants (12/4): Started his second career game (first of 2011) as both Bishop and Hawk were inactive with calf injuries...Finished with five tackles (four solo, one for loss) and a pass defensed...Broke up a QB Eli Manning pass intended for TE Jake Ballard on a crossing route late in the second quarter...Undercut the throw and nearly intercepted it, instead knocking it away...Tackle for loss came on the Giants’ second drive of the first quarter when he crashed through the line of scrimmage past C Kevin Boothe and dropped RB Ahmad Bradshaw in the backfield for a 1-yard loss. vs. Oakland Raiders (12/11): Made his second consecutive start in the absence of the injured Hawk and tied for the team lead with 12 tackles (eight solo), also causing two turnover plays with his second INT in three games and his first career forced fumble that was returned for a TD...Made the INT just before halftime when he carried TE Kevin Boss on a post pattern, maintaining underneath coverage with S Morgan Burnett over the top...Leaped to intercept the high throw from QB Carson Palmer in the end zone, downing it for a touchback...Forced fumble came on Oakland’s second possession of the third quarter, after Palmer had completed a short throw over the middle to FB Marcel Reece...Francois came up to tackle the ball-carrier, punching the ball out with his left hand...The ball traveled several yards backwards before being batted around by different players, and was picked up by LB Erik Walden, who returned it 5 yards for a TD to extend the Packers’ lead to 43-7. at Kansas City Chiefs (12/18): Was relegated to his previous role on special
