Our Ultrasound Division
Advanced Health Education Center has been providing
high quality ultrasound skills training for 25 years. The Center’s
training facility includes classroom and laboratory space to
maximize the learning objectives. Each class is designed to
accelerate learning and includes a practical hands-on component.
The laboratory component is highly specialized with emphasis
on learning the “must know” information by scanning normal
models. The curriculum is designed to produce skills that quickly
transfer to the workplace. This is accomplished through small
student groups and heavy utilization of principles and theory.
The CME courses that provide the hands-on component are
taught in our Houston center. Advanced Health does provide
on-site training for healthcare facility staff or medical groups
through individual contract courses.
Training with the Advanced Health Education Center is well
known for its practicality and clinical orientation. Our training
approach selects the information most vital to the procedures
and builds a framework that enables rapid assimilation of
useful scanning tools. Correlation of lecture and lab will jumpstart
your staff educationally for independent and functional
operations. Our introductory classes start with the beginner’s
level and teach the “must know” foundation. The “nice to know”
information will be gained through clinical experience at home
after the basic training or in one of our advanced courses. Our
instructional staff receive rave reviews from our students.
Approvals
The ultrasound classes for sonographers are approved by the
Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (SDMS). Due to SDMS
educational credit guidelines, amount of credit awarded by SDMS
varies by course. The new SDMS system for certificates does not allow
printing of certificates prior to completion of the course. Students
attending courses outside of Houston will have certificates emailed to
them after completion of the course. Sonographers may also attend
the Category 1 CME courses for credit. ARDMS recognizes AMA
PRA Category 1 designation as an accepted Continuing Education
Evaluation Model System (AACEEMS) for sonographers. AMA PRA
Category 1 credit is not acceptable to the ARRT. SDMS credit is
acceptable to the ARRT.
Accreditation
Physicians
”The Advanced Health Education Center, Ltd. is accredited by the
Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to sponsor
continuing medical education for physicians.”
Ultrasound courses provided in the Houston Center are desiganted
for AMA Category 1 Continuing Medical Education. AMA PRA
Category 1 CreditsTMis available for other specialty activities. Please
check course descriptions for designation statements for AMA PRA
Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate
with the extent of their participation in the activity.
The Introduction to Emergency Department Ultrasound/Point of
Care Ultrasound program is approved by the American College of
Emergency Physicians for 24 hours of ACEP Category 1 credit.
The Advanced Emergency Department Ultrasound/Advanced Point
of Care program is approved by the American College of Emergency
Physicians for 16 hours of ACEP Category 1 credit.
The Ultrasound Guided Venous/PICC Line Access program is approved
by the American College of Emergency Physicians for 8 hours
of ACEP Category 1 credit.

Sonographers
Ultrasound courses provided in the Houston Center are designated
for AMA Category 1 Continuing Medical Education. The ARDMS
(American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) accepts Category
1 CME. Some of the ultrasound courses are also approved for
SDMS (Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) credit. Please
check the course description approval designation.
