Echocardiography Ultrasound Echocardiography Case Studies and Diagnostic Challenges The interpretation of an echocardiogram has become more than just evaluating wall motion abnormalities to calculate an ejection fraction. Current equipment provides the clinician with a wealth of information unimagined several years ago. Interpreters find it increasingly difficult to make sense of the reams of information provided by the cardiac sonographer. This course will provide you with real world case studies to sharpen your interpretive skills. You will see both normal, and a wide variety of pathology, along with the appropriate echocardiographic views and data necessary to make the correct interpretation. You will also be presented with typical diagnostic challenges such as poor imaging windows and limited data to help you develop techniques to get the most useful information possible from the exam. Physicians applying for credentials, accreditation, or reaccreditation will find this a valuable means to quickly and efficiently acquire documentation for additional case studies and CME. Echocardiography Ultrasound Focused Echocardiography (FTTE) Training for Intensivists and Critical Care Professionals Ultrasound-guided intervention is becoming an increasingly popular and valuable tool in the fast-paced environment of critical care. The American Society of Echocardiography has endorsed focused echocardiography (FTTE) procedures as an indispensable tool and has established guidelines for the training of intensivists and critical care professionals. Echocardiography is the diagnostic modality of choice because it is noninvasive, portable, safe, provides real-time visualization and an immediate diagnosis. New imaging technology has improved imaging capabilities leading to ever expanding applications. Echo is the diagnostic modality of choice for rapid and accurate bedside diagnosis in hemodynamic compromise. You will learn the skills to utilize effective road mapping for identification and interpretation of echocardiographic findings in the critical patient. You will develop echocardiographic tools to assess volume status, cardiac function in terms of wall motion, ejection fraction, pulmonary artery pressure measurements and cardiac output. The goal directed FTTE procedure includes the calculations appropriate to the critical care patient. The course is a combination of ultrasound theory and ample “hands-on” practice on live models to understand the hand to eye coordination required, proper transducer orientation, and identify the ultrasound appearance of the normal cardiac image.
