OB/GYN Ultrasound
Limited OB Ultrasound (2 Days)
This two-day program is designed for the healthcare professional wishing to use ultrasound
to provide enhancement to the obstetrical examination. This course will provide
a valuable combination of lecture, demonstration and in-house scan lab experience
with live models. Content presented will include an introduction to ultrasound physics,
instrumentation, and pelvic anatomy (both normal and abnormal). Time will be dedicated
to both transabdominal and endovaginal scanning techniques and basic fetal and
amniotic fluid measurements. Provided in our on-site scan lab will be a diverse selection
of ultrasound equipment to be used under the guidance of course faculty.
Objectives
At the completion of the course, the learner will be able to:
• Utilize the principles of instrumentation to prepare
ultrasound equipment for the examination.
• Recognize normal and abnormal pelvic anatomy.
• Identify the difference in techniques related to transabdominal
and transvaginal pelvic scanning techniques.
• Identify basic fetal anatomy and biophysical profile.
• Identify basic fetal anomalies and their ultrasound
appearance.
• Apply appropriate measurement techniques in transabdominal
and endovaginal scanning.

Target Audience
Physicians, Sonographers, and other medical professionals
experienced in transabdominal scanning of the
female pelvis. Physicians can include but are not limited
to the specialties of OB/GYN, Family Practice, Nurse
Practitioners and Midwives, Emergency Medicine or
Radiology.

Class Size
Class size is limited to maximize personal instruction
between instructor and student. All instruction is
instructor directed.
Equipment
Advanced Health utilizes a variety of ultrasound equipment.
We are fortunate to have many different units
at one time in our laboratory. Each class includes basic
equipment utilization. The class does not include applications
training for a specific brand of equipment. This is
best accomplished by your equipment manufacturer.

Fee $1,133 includes lecture, scanning laboratory
instrumentation with models, and supplies for the classroom
and laboratory. Students are responsible for their
textbooks, housing, meals, and transportation.
