OB/GYN Ultrasound<br />

Limited OB Ultrasound (2 Days)<br />

This two-day program is designed for the healthcare professional wishing to use ultrasound<br />

to provide enhancement to the obstetrical examination. This course will provide<br />

a valuable combination of lecture, demonstration and in-house scan lab experience<br />

with live models. Content presented will include an introduction to ultrasound physics,<br />

instrumentation, and pelvic anatomy (both normal and abnormal). Time will be dedicated<br />

to both transabdominal and endovaginal scanning techniques and basic fetal and<br />

amniotic fluid measurements. Provided in our on-site scan lab will be a diverse selection<br />

of ultrasound equipment to be used under the guidance of course faculty.<br />

Objectives<br />

At the completion of the course, the learner will be able to:<br />

• Utilize the principles of instrumentation to prepare<br />

ultrasound equipment for the examination.<br />

• Recognize normal and abnormal pelvic anatomy.<br />

• Identify the difference in techniques related to transabdominal<br />

and transvaginal pelvic scanning techniques.<br />

• Identify basic fetal anatomy and biophysical profile.<br />

• Identify basic fetal anomalies and their ultrasound<br />

appearance.<br />

• Apply appropriate measurement techniques in transabdominal<br />

and endovaginal scanning.<br />

Target Audience<br />

Physicians, Sonographers, and other medical professionals<br />

experienced in transabdominal scanning of the<br />

female pelvis. Physicians can include but are not limited<br />

to the specialties of OB/GYN, Family Practice, Nurse<br />

Practitioners and Midwives, Emergency Medicine or<br />

Radiology.<br />

by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical<br />

<strong>Education</strong> to provide continuing medical education for<br />

Class size is limited to maximize personal instruction<br />

between instructor and student. All instruction is<br />

instructor directed.<br />

Equipment<br />

<strong>Advanced</strong> <strong>Health</strong> utilizes a variety of ultrasound equipment.<br />

We are fortunate to have many different units<br />

at one time in our laboratory. Each class includes basic<br />

equipment utilization. The class does not include applications<br />

training for a specific brand of equipment. This is<br />

best accomplished by your equipment manufacturer.<br />

Fee $1,133 includes lecture, scanning laboratory<br />

instrumentation with models, and supplies for the classroom<br />

and laboratory. Students are responsible for their<br />
