7. General Test Approach and Test Results<br />

To verify interoperability of the <strong>8180</strong> <strong>SIP</strong> <strong>Audio</strong> <strong>Alerter</strong> <strong>with</strong> Communication Manager and<br />

Session Manager, calls were made to a <strong>SIP</strong> phone that was associated <strong>with</strong> the Ring extension of<br />

the <strong>8180</strong> <strong>SIP</strong> <strong>Audio</strong> <strong>Alerter</strong>. There<strong>for</strong>e, when the <strong>SIP</strong> phone was called, the <strong>8180</strong> <strong>SIP</strong> <strong>Audio</strong><br />

<strong>Alerter</strong> also rang. In addition, calls were placed to the Page extension of the <strong>8180</strong> <strong>SIP</strong> <strong>Audio</strong><br />

<strong>Alerter</strong> and verified that it auto-answered the call and that voice paging was allowed. The<br />

features listed in Section 1.1 were covered.<br />

All test cases passed and the <strong>8180</strong> <strong>SIP</strong> <strong>Audio</strong> <strong>Alerter</strong> successfully registered <strong>with</strong> Session<br />

Manager and ringing and voice paging calls were successful.<br />

8. Verification Steps<br />

The following steps can be used to verify and/or troubleshoot installations in the field.<br />

1. Verify that the Ring and Page extensions have successfully registered <strong>with</strong> Session Manager.<br />

The <strong>SIP</strong> Registration field in the Status tab should indicate successful registration <strong>for</strong> the<br />

Ring and Page extensions as shown below.<br />

2. Place a call to the desk phone associated <strong>with</strong> the Ring extension and verify simultaneous<br />

ringing at the desk phone and the <strong>8180</strong> <strong>SIP</strong> <strong>Audio</strong> <strong>Alerter</strong>.<br />

3. Place a call to the Page extension and verify that the <strong>8180</strong> auto-answers the call and that<br />

voice paging is allowed.<br />
