Collection volumes for plastics and
other production waste such as combustible
material rose significantly during the
fiscal year. One example is shrink and
stretch wrap, a material commonly used
by retailers in packaging. Collected volumes
are on the rise, and there is good
sales potential for the raw material.
Modernization of recycling stations
Stena Scanpaper has continued to work
intensely to modernize its recycling stations.
In some cases it has installed level
gauges in containers. When a container
begins to fill up, a message is sent via the
Internet. Containers can then be emptied
efficiently and at the right time, which in
itself has environmental benefits.
Stena Scanpaper has invested in collection
vehicles as well, to improve transport
efficiency, broaden geographic reach and
expand its fleet to include vehicles that not
only handle recovered paper but also
other production waste.
The dairy company Arla Foods has its largest Nordic facility in Götene, where Stena takes care of all the

More contracts
Contracts to coordinate recycling operations
have grown in number and now
cover around a hundred Swedish municipalities.
The job entails coordinating everyone
who utilizes recycling stations as
well as responsibility for signage and other
information. Another important job is
to provide a call center where the public
can ask questions.
