Recycling | Norway
Ferrous and Non-Ferrous
Metals
Stena Jern & Metall’s scrap operations
developed positively, and volume
growth was good despite a highly competitive
market.
In spring 2004 Stena established its first
Norwegian ferrous and non-ferrous scrap
processing unit in Alnabru, Oslo. The cooperation
with Stena’s other recycling
companies contributed to volume growth
during the fiscal year.
Emphasis is being placed on building
long-term, trusting relationships with
both current and new customers. Customdesigned
collection systems are offered for
a number of industries.
The goal moving forward is to further
improve volume and market share.
Growth opportunities in coming years are
good despite fierce competition. The solid
competence of the staff and the recycling
companies’ joint efforts to develop total
waste management solutions for customers
in the country are two important
reasons why.
Recovered Paper
With successful total waste management
solutions, Stena Scanpaper enhanced
customer service in Norway during the
fiscal year.
Stena Scanpaper is one of Norway’s leading
recycling companies for recovered
paper and plastics. In Ausenfjellet, outside
Oslo, the Stena Metall Group has its largest
recycling facility for recovered paper.
The company offers customers a wide
range of recycling services for recovered
paper and plastics as well as confidential
document destruction. Together with
Stena’s other recycling companies in Norway,
it offers comprehensive waste management
solutions.
During the fiscal year Stena Scanpaper
raised its volume of recovered paper.
Stena’s total waste management solutions
In Gjøvik, a satellite station has been
established, making it possible to further
enhance customer service in Gjøvik,
Lillehammer and the Hamar areas.
Through cooperation with a local company,
Stena has been able to effectively
offer its services in Stavanger.
The Ausenfjellet facility, where the
main operations are conducted, has been
upgraded technically to improve efficiency.
This includes the addition of an automatic
sorting line equipped with the
industry’s latest technology.
As in the Stena Metall Group’s other
home markets, the Norwegian recovered
paper market is experiencing margin pressure
and fierce competition. Value-added
for customers is an important selling
point. Customer demand for services is
rising, and Stena’s efficient and environmentally
safe waste management solutions
will create good opportunities in the years
ahead.
Stena Scanpaper AS
