INTRODUCTION
Epidemic and Pandemic
An epidemic is a disease that appears as new cases at the
local level in a human population, during a given time period, at
a rate that substantially exceeds what is expected time or
normal. A pandemic is the same as an epidemic except that it
happens on a global scale. In the event of an epidemic or
pandemic, consult your local county health department for
guidelines and policies.
Decontamination Procedures
Decontamination requirements for facilities are handled by the
local county health department and implemented by the local
fire department. If your facility has a decontamination need,
the county health department will inform you or the district
administration regarding the proper procedures and any
necessary equipment.
Criminal
A crime is an act that violates a political or moral rule. Crimes
in schools include:
Bomb Threats
Treat all bomb threats seriously.
# Person receiving bomb threat shall:
» Attempt to have the caller indicate where bomb
is located and when it will go off.
» Keep caller talking as long as possible and try
to identify the caller’s:
• Age.
• Gender.
• Type of voice and/or accent.
• Background noises.
• Other information that may identify caller.
# Immediately notify the principal/dean.
