INTRODUCTION
Lockdown
A school lockdown means no one is allowed in and no one is
allowed out. Children are not permitted to leave the school
during a lockdown and off-duty staff members are not allowed
in. Doors are locked and students must follow the directives of
school personnel. Procedures include:
# An emergency lockdown (or shelter-in-place) will
be announced by intercom or other voice
communication.
# If an intercom is not available, a bell should be
used.
# If a situation that may require an emergency
lockdown is discovered, the individual making the
discovery shall immediately contact Police/
Security and provide as much information as
possible.
# Fire evacuation alarms should not be sounded.
