Mandatory Requirements
Students must address and will be judged on
the following criteria:
≥ Target market and the product selected
must be explained at the beginning of
the rationale.
≥ The package must include high quality
graphics that promote the brand and
deliver prominent shelf appeal.
≥ All mandatory product and labelling
information is to be included.
≥ The glass container must be able to be
made using current glass manufacturing
processes such as ‘Blow & Blow,’
‘Narrow Neck Press & Blow’ or
‘Press and Blow’ technology. For
a guide to these processes, please
refer to “Additional Information” at:
www.pca.org.au/awards2010/sx
≥ The stability of the packaging needs to
be taken into consideration—both on a
production line and filling line.
≥ Embossing or debossing of the glass can
be included in the design but shouldn’t
be within a contact zone (bottle to bottle).
≥ Sharp corners or edges within the glass
container design should be avoided.
≥ A simple 2 dimensional drawing of
your package design must be provided
along with a colour visual of the finished
package design in your rationale.
Materials And Mock-Up
For the purpose of the Awards, mock-ups of
the glass container can be made from more
accessible materials such as foam, wood or
other suitable materials.
