Mid-Atlantic National/All-American Ayrshire Futurity 2014 All-American Futurity Rules Eligibility: This 3 year old Futurity is a challenge to select and nominate heifers that develop into superior cows. The 2014 entrants must be born between September 1, 2010 and August 31, 2011. Futurity Location: The All- American Ayrshire Futurity will be held in conjunction with the All-American Ayrshire Show/Mid- Atlantic National Ayrshire show in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania Judge: The judge of the All- American Ayrshire Show/Mid- Atlantic National show will also officiate the Futurity. Entry Procedure: Anyone may enter an Ayrshire heifer by submitting a completed entry form along with the specified entry fee. When a Futurity entrant is sold, it is the responsibility of the owner to notify Futurity Chairperson of the change in ownership and to inform the buyer that the animal is entered in the Futurity. The postmark shall determine obligation of meeting the closing date requirements. Entry Fees: A one time payment of $25.00 will be due with the entry by November 30, 2011. There will be no refunds unless the Futurity is cancelled. This payment does not cover All-American Dairy Show Entry. There will be no refunds. NAME OF ANIMAL Premiums will consist of entry fees. Premier Exhibitor Ayrshire Breed Special NASCO Type and Production – Trophy to be awarded at each National Show to the exhibitor of the cow with the highest actual 305 day or less official DHI record. The cow must stand in the top 5 if less than 20 in class or top 20% if more than 20 in class. Dry cows are not eligible for this award. The official DHI record must be provided by the owner with substantiating evidence (the official DHI record report form or a statement giving the record, signed by the official DHI supervisor) when the entries are checked by the Ayrshire staff. In case of tie, the tying records will be converted to an ECM basis with high record being the winner.
ELIGIBILITY: Participation in the Junior Show is open to all young men and women who own registered Ayrshires. They must be a National Ayrshire Junior Member. Applications and payment can be made at Harrisburg. Exhibitors may participate after they reach 9 years of age and until December 31 of the year in which they turn 21 years old. OWNERSHIP: Animals may be owned solely by the junior exhibitor or in a partnership provided the junior exhibitor’s name appears on the registration paper, prior to August 1. All purchased animals must be transferred by August 1. The recorded date and not the delivery date will be considered the transfer date. Registration papers will be checked at the show. In lieu of ownership, a lease agreement will be accepted. An approved lease of a 4-H, state or FFA program will be recognized upon verification at the National Ayrshire Office, by August 1 st . PARTICIPATION: (a.) Up to two animals may be exhibited by each exhibitor in each class. A substitute junior showman, same age or younger, will be permitted to be used to show the second animal. Not more than four may be shown in the entire show that were not bred by the exhibitor. In order to qualify as a breeder, the registration paper must show the junior exhibitor or a partnership including the junior exhibitor as the breeder. (b) To be eligible to compete for the cash awards, ribbons or recognition, an animal must be shown by the junior owner except by prior written approval. If approved, another junior must show the animal. Adults are not allowed to show in any case or assist with the State Herd class. (c) A “dress code” will be strictly enforced for Juniors showing at National Shows. WHITE PANTS WITH A SHOW SHIRT must be worn or the Junior exhibitor will not be allowed to show his/her animal. No leeway or special allowance will be made to this rule. The Ayrshire Breeders Association and/or its designated representatives reserve the right to DNA Test all show class winners at the National Shows, State Fairs, or State Shows. Louis Zumbach Total Performance Award - A plaque will be awarded to the top junior owned and exhibited animal for total performance. A total performance score is placed on each animal, three years and over, based on 100 points as follows: 50 points on placing 1 st – 50 2 nd – 47 3 rd – 44 etc 50 points on production 1 st – 50 2 nd – 47 3 rd – 44 etc. All total performance entries, regardless of age, will be considered one class and points awarded accordingly. Points for production will be based on animals best actual 305 day (2x or 2x converted) Energy Correct Milk (ECM) record. (Record must be made available by the exhibitor to the Ayrshire rep). This award is presented in memory of Louis Zumbach and is funded by the Louis Zumbach Fund of the National Ayrshire Breeders’ Association. The youth must own the animal they are showing. Youth participants must register for the Youth Showmanship Contest (registration 8:00 am-9:30 am see page 9) and designate that they are an Ayrshire Junior Member participant. The highest placing Ayrshire participant in each division will be designated the Ayrshire division winner. The winners of the junior, intermediate and senior divisions of the Arthur Clark Showmanship Class will receive a show halter with an engraved plate on it presented in honor of Mr. Arthur Clark.
