from the <strong>American</strong> Guernsey Association.<br />

PERFORMANCE REGISTER<br />

The first five winners in each of the individual<br />

classes and the show champions will<br />

be recorded in the performance files of the<br />

<strong>American</strong> Guernsey Association and appear on<br />

future official performance pedigrees issued by<br />

the AGA.<br />

NATIONAL GUERNSEY SHOW SPECIAL AWARDS<br />

THE AMERICAN GUERNSEY ASSOCIATION TROPHY, awarded to<br />

the first place Junior Two Year Old Cow and to the first place Senior<br />

Two Year Old Cow by the <strong>American</strong> Guernsey Association.<br />

TOTAL PERFORMANCE COW AWARD, a plaque in honor of Lee<br />

Yost, Benton, Pennsylvania to be presented by the Pennsylvania<br />

Guernsey Breeders’ Association. A $100 award to be presented by<br />

the <strong>American</strong> Guernsey Association.<br />

THE CARROLL EBY TROPHY, awarded annually by Wayne and<br />

Charles McLaughlin in memory of Carroll Eby, to the exhibitor of the<br />

first place aged cow.<br />

THE DOUGLASTON MANOR FARM TROPHY, awarded annually in<br />

honor of Douglaston Manor Farm, Pulaski, New York to the exhibitor of<br />

the Grand Champion Female.<br />

THE BURTON LANE FARM TROPHY, awarded annually in honor of<br />

Burton Lane Farm, Lake Forest, Illinois to the exhibitor of the Reserve<br />

Grand Champion Female.<br />

THE DONALD T. BURTON TROPHY, a memorial plaque awarded annually<br />

by the family and friends of Donald T. Burton, Eagle, Wisconsin,<br />

to the Best Female Bred & Owned by the Exhibitor.<br />

THE MEADOW LODGE FARMS TROPHY, awarded in honor of Judge<br />

Samuel B. Hayes of Oklahoma to the exhibitor of the Best Uddered<br />

Female.<br />

THE BILL JONES TROPHY, awarded annually by the New York<br />

Guernsey Breeders Cooperative, to the exhibitor of the First Place<br />

Best Three Females.<br />

THE PEER CHALLENGE TROPHY, awarded in honor of Frank S. Peer,<br />

Ithaca, New York, to the owner of the First Place Exhibitor’s Herd.<br />

THE GORDON HALL MEMORIAL TROPHIES, awarded in Honor of<br />

Gordon Hall, to the Premier Breeder and to the Premier Exhibitor of<br />

the show.<br />

GUERNSEY PERPETUAL CHALLENGE TROPHY, presented by the<br />

Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society of Guernsey, to the breeder<br />

of the Grand Champion Female.<br />

The NASCO International Type and Production Award will be<br />

awarded to the exhibitor of the cow with the highest actual 305 day<br />

or less official DHIA milk record. The cow must stand in the top 5 if<br />

less than 20 in the class or top 20% if more than 20 in the class. Dry<br />

cows are not eligible for this award. The official DHIA record must be<br />

provided by the owner with substantiating evidence (the official DHIA<br />

record report form or a statement giving the record, signed by the<br />

official DHI supervisor) when the entries are checked by the Guernsey<br />

Staff. In case of a tie, the contending records will be converted to an<br />

ECM (Energy Corrected Milk) basis with high record being the winner.<br />

PREMIER NATIONAL JUNIOR GUERNSEY SHOW<br />

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19 | Large Arena | Judge – Steve Wagner, Quarryville, Pennsylvania<br />

ELIGIBILITY<br />

1. Any boy or girl who meets the following<br />

qualifications is eligible to participate.<br />

(a.) Age is limited to boys and girls whose<br />

birth dates are between January 1, 1990 and<br />

December 31, 2002, inclusive.<br />

(b.) The participant must be the recorded<br />

owner of one or more registered Guernsey<br />

females, properly recorded in the Herd Register<br />

of the <strong>American</strong> Guernsey Association, or<br />

respective National Guernsey Association or<br />

a participant in the <strong>American</strong> Guernsey Association<br />

Youth Lease Agreement Program and<br />

must be a Junior Member of AGA.<br />

(c.) The qualifying record of ownership or<br />

lease for animals, other than those bred by<br />

the junior exhibitor, shall be determined by<br />

the actual date the application for transfer of<br />

ownership was received in the office of The<br />

<strong>American</strong> Guernsey Association. This date is<br />

automatically stamped on the back of the registration<br />

certificate and will be found with the<br />

transfer of ownership data. The date of the<br />

receipts stamped on the registration certificate<br />

must be prior to July 1, 2011.<br />

(d.) In all classes the record ownership must<br />

show in the sole ownership of the exhibitor or<br />

partnership comprised of AGA Junior Members<br />

or be a participant in the <strong>American</strong> Guernsey<br />

Association Youth Lease Program.<br />

(e.) Best Animal Bred and Owned By Exhibitor-Registration<br />

papers will be checked in the<br />

ring to verify that the individual Junior Exhibitor<br />

is the breeder.<br />

(f.) If the participant is exhibiting under the<br />

<strong>American</strong> Guernsey Association Youth Lease<br />

Agreement Program, all guidelines and terms<br />

must have been followed and a <strong>copy</strong> of the<br />

signed and dated agreement must be present<br />

and the animal must be led by the leasee.<br />

FREQUENCY PARTICIPATION<br />

2. Any boy or girl who meets eligibility to participate<br />

may exhibit in as many years as his or<br />

her eligibility will permit.<br />

ENTRIES EXHIBITED<br />

3. (a.) Each eligible exhibitor is limited to one<br />

entry in any one class but is eligible to show in<br />

each class.<br />

(b.) There is no limitation on the number of<br />

times an eligible animal may be exhibited.<br />

4. (a.) Exhibitors are required to show their<br />

own animals except a substitute showman<br />

(who is the same age or younger) may be<br />

used in case the owner, for some justifiable<br />

reason, is unable to attend the show. While<br />

in the ring, at the discretion of Show Management,<br />

a youth may be assisted or replaced by<br />

another youth exhibitor, if required. Adults<br />

are not allowed to show in any case or assist<br />

with the State Herd Class. A substitute<br />

leadsperson may only be used at one National<br />

Junior Show per year.<br />

(b.) <strong>All</strong> exhibitors will be required to wear<br />

white clothes and an official National Junior<br />

Show Shirt while exhibiting their animals.<br />

Shirts or other items of clothing with a farm<br />

name will not be allowed.<br />

5. (a.) There is no limit on the number of<br />

entries per state.<br />

(b.) Entries are to be made on entry forms<br />

available from the Show Manager for both the<br />

PREMIER National Junior Guernsey Show and<br />

the Open National Guernsey Show. <strong>All</strong> entries,<br />

junior and open shows, will be included in the<br />

Open Show superintendent’s book, if additional<br />

entry fee is paid. Those animals to be entered<br />

in the Junior Show MUST BE SO MARKED<br />

ON THE ENTRY BLANK. If not designated as<br />

Junior Show entries, they will not be included<br />

in the Junior Show list of entries. Animals<br />

entered in both the junior show and the open<br />

show will be assigned one ring number and<br />

the number will apply in both shows.<br />

(c.) Entries are to be sent directly to the <strong>All</strong>-<br />

<strong>American</strong> <strong>Dairy</strong> Show. Show management will<br />

forward copies of the entries to the <strong>American</strong><br />

Guernsey Association to confirm eligibility.<br />

(d.) State Herd to consist of three animals<br />

from one state owned by at least three (3) different<br />

exhibitors.<br />

FINANCIAL SUPPORT<br />

6. The <strong>American</strong> Guernsey Association has<br />

appropriated financial support of the National<br />

Junior Guernsey Show program as listed on<br />

the following page.<br />

HEALTH<br />

7. Health requirements are the same as the<br />

open show and are listed on page 10.<br />

ARRIVAL<br />

8. Entries are to be stabled on the grounds by<br />

12:00 Noon Saturday, September 17, 2011.<br />

LIABILITY<br />

9. The <strong>American</strong> Guernsey Association will<br />

not be liable for the safety of animals or<br />

exhibits, or their employees against robbery,<br />

damage by fire, accident or any other cause.<br />
