48th All-American Dairy Show
During the past 48 years, the All-American Dairy Show has become one of the premier
dairy events in the country, attracting some of the best show cattle in the world along
with some of the best breeders and youth from coast to coast.
We expect once again to host nearly 3,500 entries that will compete in the open
classes, national junior dairy shows, the Pennsylvania Junior Dairy Show and the
Pennsylvania Holstein Fall Championship Show.
We continue to offer competitive premiums for our exhibitors while drawing the best of
all seven breeds. Every entry in every class in the open and youth shows – from top to
bottom – receives a minimum of $15 premium, with class-winning milking cows receiving
$300 and first place calves and heifers taking $150 in the open shows. Open show breed
champions earn $1,000 each and the Supreme Champion tops $3,000.
We continually host the largest number of the nation’s dairy youth in competition with
the Premier National Junior Events – four full days dedicated to youth shows, contests
and programs. Themed “Little Stars – Big Dreams,” the 2011 event will feature seven
national shows culminating with the selection of Supreme Champion on Monday, Sept.
19, at 3 p.m. In the youth shows, first prize milking cows receive $80 and winning calves
and heifers take $60. Youth breed champions win a $1,000 savings bond and $2,000
cash for Supreme Champion.
Other contest options for youth include Youth Showmanship, Invitational Youth Dairy
Cattle Judging and the Youth Dairy Challenge, where juniors have a chance to win large
premiums, savings bonds, scholarships and other prizes. Returning are the youth ice
cream social, and “Fire Up” scavenger hunt and pizza party.
The 14 th All-Dairy Antiques and Collectibles Show will focus on Holstein breed antiques
and memorabilia. The annual show continues as a one-of-a-kind exhibition to trade,
sell or simply appreciate more than 100 years of dairy industry items. The third annual
consignment auction for antique pieces is set for Tuesday, Sept. 20.
Returning is the “Come Snack with the Vendors” event, a chance for exhibitors and
show guests to visit with trade show vendors and bid on items in the silent auction. Also
returning is the second Colorful View Sale, in addition to the Eastern Elite Holstein Sale,
that will feature a select group of consignments from across the country.
For nearly half-a-century, the All-American Dairy Show has delighted dairy enthusiasts
with its shows, awards and activities. We expect this year to be no different, and we look
forward to watching the rich tradition of camaraderie and competition unfold yet again.
