Fit For Sport strengthens team<br />

Children’s activity provider Fit For Sport has<br />

strengthened its management team with two<br />

appointments to support ongoing expansion.<br />

Anita De Villiers has joined the company<br />

as head of children’s experience, tasked with<br />

ensuring Fit For Sport’s programmes and<br />

activities, both in and out of schools, remain<br />

innovative, progressive and fun. De Villiers<br />

brings a broad range of experience from her<br />

previous role as national children’s manager at<br />

Virgin Active where she worked for 13 years.<br />

Meanwhile, Jack Shakespeare has been<br />

promoted to head of training and development<br />

to drive Fit For Sport’s children’s activity<br />

programming. He also leads the Fit For Sport<br />

training academy, responsible for the quality<br />

of delivery of its vocational training and CPD<br />

programmes. Shakespeare has been with the<br />

company for seven years, working from the<br />

ground up – initially as an activity leader in its<br />

schools and Kids Camp services – and more<br />

recently as national training manager.<br />

Cycling specialist Neil<br />

Troutman joins Keiser<br />

Keiser UK has appointed Neil Troutman as<br />

new master instructor, tasked with building<br />

a team of master instructors to deliver<br />

Keiser’s M Series and Air training courses.<br />

He will also develop a portfolio of training<br />

and educational material with Keiser, as well<br />

as working with SkillsActive to gain REPs<br />

accreditation for these new courses.<br />

Troutman has more than 20 years’<br />

experience in the health and fitness<br />

industry. He has worked as a global master<br />

trainer, with experience developing and<br />

gaining accreditation for training courses<br />

for other fitness equipment suppliers<br />

including Trixter and Lebert Fitness.<br />

Startin said: “By recruiting a master trainer<br />

of Neil’s calibre, Keiser UK can enhance<br />

the quality of our training and education<br />

for UK instructors and serve to benefit<br />

Talley swaps LA for Everyone Active<br />

Everyone Active has appointed Mark Talley as<br />

its new group fitness development manager,<br />

with a brief of introducing new products,<br />

ideas and technology to aid customer<br />

retention and drive the company forward.<br />

Talley will also work with Everyone<br />

Active’s operational teams to ensure business<br />

objectives are met and implemented in a<br />

consistent way across the organisation.<br />

With more than 20 years’ experience in<br />

the health and fitness industry, Talley arrives<br />

from LA fitness, where he was fitness director<br />

and has subsequently been replaced by Sam<br />

Theyers (see right). Prior to LA, Talley held<br />

a variety of senior operational, product<br />

development and managerial roles at<br />

organisations including Marriott, Thistle Hotels,<br />

Holmes Place, Esporta and Fusion Lifestyle.<br />

our team and believe he has all the qualities<br />

to continue driving our business and success,”<br />

Jo Monkhouse makes the leap to Leisure-net<br />

Leisure-net Solutions has appointed Jo<br />

Monkhouse as a data insight manager, a role<br />

that will see her supporting clients to maximise<br />

the outcomes of the data they generate.<br />

Monkhouse has spent the last 13 years<br />

working with Everyone Active (SLM), initially<br />

Theyers to head fitness<br />

LA fitness has promoted Sam Theyers to<br />

the role of national head of fitness for the<br />

47-club chain, filling the void left by Mark<br />

Talley’s recent departure (see left).<br />

Theyers, who has been with LA fitness<br />

since April 2013, took up his new role on<br />

1 October, after enjoying a successful year<br />

as regional sales manager for the south.<br />

He has been in the industry for nearly<br />

15 years, starting as a PT and group fitness<br />

instructor with Les Mills in his native New<br />

Zealand. Theyers has a BA in Exercise<br />

Prescription, Management and Sports<br />

Science and several Level 3 diplomas.<br />

He will lead the training team at<br />

LA fitness – reporting directly into<br />

COO Arthur McColl – and will also be<br />

managing the roll-out of key new product<br />

developments and classes across the chain.<br />
