WELLNESS ON A SHOESTRING AT SWISS HOSTEL<br />
A youth hostel in Saas-Fee, Switzerland, has opened with<br />
1,900sq m (20,451sq ft) of wellness and sports facilities,<br />
declaring itself the fi rst “wellness hostel” in the world.<br />
The 168-bed dormitory operation, WellnessHostel 4000,<br />
has already attracted a varied clientele, including ski teams,<br />
mature holidaymakers and young people seeking cheap<br />
accommodation: beds start at around CHF50 (€41, £32).<br />
The spa has a Finnish sauna, bio sauna, herbal steambath,<br />
whirlpool, relaxation room, a phone/tablet-free area<br />
and 25m indoor pool. There’s also a gym with personal<br />
training available. Single admission to the wellness, fi tness<br />
and swimming pool costs CHF41.50 (€33, £27) while a<br />
60-minute massage starts at CHF95 (€77, £62). Other<br />

Cycling hotel opens in Japan<br />
A fi ve-star hotel dedicated to cyclists<br />
has opened in Onomichi – a coastal city<br />
in Japan – allowing guests to check in<br />
while still on their bikes.<br />
Masterminded by Suppose Design<br />
Offi ce, Hotel Cycle has 28 suites and is<br />
the fi rst of its kind in the country.<br />

transport as a piece of art and keeping<br />

SCIENCE MUSEUM<br />
Health and fi tness is making its way into<br />
the world of attractions as part of a new<br />
museum that’s being built in Miami, US.<br />
The Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of<br />
Science, which is due to open in 2016, will<br />
have a gallery dedicated to teaching people<br />
how to make healthy lifestyle choices.<br />
The 836sq m (9,000sq ft) gallery will<br />
use technology to show the science and<br />
psychology behind eating, meditation, body<br />
language, brain function and technology<br />
for prosthetics and surgery. It will have an<br />
energy dance fl oor, virtual restaurant and<br />
science bar for cooking demonstrations.<br />
