CATTLE<br />
DAIRY SHORTHORN<br />
All animals must be entered in the Dairy Shorthorn Register of Coate’s Herd Book. The Shorthorn<br />
Society <strong>Show</strong> Regulations (latest) will apply to all exhibitors and exhibits in the Dairy Shorthorn<br />
section.<br />
Exhibitors shall familiarise themselves with the various breed society rules which apply to their<br />
breed section as they relate to showing, particularly regards eligibility to enter, exhibitor bred<br />
status and show ring ethics.<br />
CLASS<br />
574 HEIFER, not in milk<br />
575 HEIFER, in milk, and which was under 3 years old at calving. Date of birth must<br />
be stated and date of last calving if previous to 18th March 2011. If not then<br />
calved, date of last service must be stated.<br />
576 COW, in calf and not in milk. A Grading Register Cow, Class B or C, may<br />
compete in this Class.<br />
577 COW, in milk. A Grading Register Cow, Class B or C, may compete in this<br />
Class.<br />
578 GROUP OF THREE ANIMALS, bona fide the property of one exhibitor and<br />
entered in the Classes for which they are eligible. The animals may be either<br />
full pedigree or may be entered or eligible for entry in Classes B or C of the<br />
Shorthorn Society’s Grading Register.<br />
Specials<br />
S296 CHAMPION PRIZES, £100 and £50 - for the Champion and Reserve Champion<br />
Dairy Shorthorn. Presented by the Society.<br />
S297 THE BREEDERS PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP - for the best Shorthorn.<br />
Presented by the Ulster Shorthorn Breeders’ Association to the Society at the<br />
Centenary <strong>Show</strong>, 1967.<br />
S298 THE NICHOLSON BEST MEMORIAL PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP - for the<br />
best Shorthorn. Presented by Robert D Best JP.<br />
S299 THE A McDICKSON PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP - for the best Dairy<br />
Shorthorn.<br />
S300 THE WILLIAM MITCHELL PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP - for the best Dairy<br />
Shorthorn Cow or Heifer. Presented in memory of the late William Mitchell,<br />
Kildare.<br />
S301 THE CALWELL PERPETUAL CHALLENGE CUP - for the best Dairy Shorthorn<br />
heifer entered in Class 575. Presented by Brigadier J Y Calwell CBE MVO.<br />
