Fall 2011 Award Judges:
Poetry:
Matthew Mercuri, class of 2010, was Editor-in-Chief and Production Manager of Esprit.
His short stories “Extraction,” “Astigmatic” and “Emerald City” were published by Esprit
in 2008 and 2009. “Astigmatic” won The Berrier Prose Award in Spring 2008. He is currently
pursuing a medical degree at New York University School of Medicine.
Prose:
CJ Libassi, former Production Manager and Editor-in-Chief of Esprit, is currently a
2010 Teach For America Corps member in the DC Region teaching foreign language at
Oakcrest Elementary School. His stories “Meeting Marge,” “The Saver” and “The King of
Naptime” were published by the magazine. “The King of Naptime” won The Berrier Prose
Award in Spring 2010.
Photography:
Kevin Kinkead and Mark Webber both graduated from the Swain School of Design.
Webber has an MFA from the Parsons School of Design. They have exhibited in New York,
New Bedford, Atlanta, Kent and Scranton. Webber—who teaches painting, drawing and
aesthetics at Marywood—has a show opening in Paris in March.
