ASSESSING THE VALUES AND MANAGEMENT OF THE NSW TRAVELLING STOCK RESERVE • 19% were contiguous or within 1km of a large core remnant (>1000ha) • 16% were part of a significant regional or local corridor connecting parcels of remnant vegetation • 16% were considered to have excellent or good corridor connectivity to a large remnant • 16% contained two or more vegetation structural types • 7% were considered to have special biological values, such as rainforest or wetlands • 4% were identified as being a highly significant parcel of remnant habitat • 2% were identified as DECC as having high reservation value Figure 6 – Ecological values by mapping unit. ASSESSING THE VALUES AND MANAGEMENT OF THE NSW TRAVELLING STOCK RESERVE As described previously in section 2.7.1 the environmental values assessed contribute to an overall rating, called the Nature Conservation Significance, or NC rating. A summary of NC ratings by mapping unit is provided below and shown in Figure 8: NC1 = Very high significance – 49 % NC2 = High significance – 19 % NC3 = Moderate significance – 12 % NC4 = Low significance – 17 % NC5 = Nil significance – 2 % Figure 8.
