ASSESSING THE VALUES AND MANAGEMENT OF THE NSW TRAVELLING STOCK RESERVE What happens once a recommendation has been given to the Minister The Minister reviews all the findings of the investigation and subsequently makes his determination – either granting the claim or refusing it. If the claim is successful, the land is granted to the Aboriginal Land Council that lodged the claim by transferring the land to it. Should the Minister refuse a claim and the Aboriginal Land Council does not agree with the Minister’s refusal, the Land Council may lodge an appeal against that decision with the Land and Environment Court. NOTE: Native Title is a separate federal process dealt with under the Native Title Act 1993. More information can be found at the National Native Title Tribunal website (www.nntt.gov.au).
