CUTTING TOOLS
13 990 Eroder unit (tap disintegrator)
Mobile, fast deployment
If the tool breaks the stuck broken off piece must be removed quickly
and easily without damaging the workpiece.
With out LE eroder units you remove the broken off piece directly at
any machine tool with spindle sleeve or quill. On a drill, milling
machine, the tailstock of a lathe, in situ with the magnetic stand or on
special eroder benches.
Without damaging the thread or hole wall.
And thanks to the EEC control, it can be done as quickly and as easily
as drilling a hole.
How it works
The equipment includes a control unit, eroder head and coolant pump.
To e.g. remove a tap from the workpiece, clamp a hollow electrode with
half the diameter of the tap in the eroder head. This is now lowered by
hand using the spindle sleeve.
When the electrode touches the broken off piece of the tap a large
number of small electric arcs are struck on the underside of the electrode.
Simultaneous cooling from within by the electrode with drilling
water (dielectric liquid) causes the material to disintegrate into minute
particles which are rinsed away by the drilling water.
The following electrode erodes and removes the core of the tap.
The cutting edges are then loose and can be easily removed. The
thread remains undamaged.
Broken out twist drills, centre drills and reamers can be removed in
the same way.
Other applications
• Removing broken off screws, studs, pins.
• Eroding any hole shapes, slits/slots, marks in hardened steel, in
cemented carbide metal or in any other electrically conducting
materials.
