Casimir Zdanius joined Grimshaw in early 2003 in the practice’s Melbourne office,
working on the award winning Southern Cross Station. He relocated to the
New York office in 2006 to join the design team for the Fulton Street Transit Center.
Much of Casimir’s work has had an urban transport focus: on the Fulton Street
project, he designed stair and other circulation elements, including metalwork and
hardware, with the intention of minimizing the variety of components for ease
of manufacturing yet maximizing adaptability, aesthetic and durability.
While working on the Southern Cross Station design, Casimir was responsible
for the information systems, furniture and various hardware components including
the design of the train signalling and traction infrastructures. In addition, he
aided in the design and delivery of the complex Pedestrian Information Systems for
the entire Station precinct.
Casimir was the Project Architect on the Queens Museum of Art design, leading the
design of fundamental components including the central glass gallery and grand stair.
Casimir currently leads the Industrial Design Unit in the Grimshaw New York office.
