Fiona Cousins leads the sustainability team for Arup in the Americas, is head
of a mechanical engineering team, directs the delivery of sustainability training for
Arup’s Americas Region, and is a member of the Arup Americas Board.
A certified ASHRAE High-Performance Building Design Professional, Fiona has a
background as a mechanical engineer and has spent much of her career
engaged in HVAC design, with an area of specialization in thermal comfort and
energy efficiency. She has been a LEED AP since 2001, and has served as
both manager and director for a number of projects that are pursuing the highest
levels of LEED goals. A frequent presenter on transformative sustainable building
design, she has presented technical papers in the areas of low energy design
and sustainability at EnvironDesign, Sustainable Steel, Earthday New York, Green
Building Challenge, GreenBuild, Council for Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (2005)
and the Architectural Record Innovation Conference (2006).
