Philippines is commonly known as <strong>the</strong> “Pearl of <strong>the</strong> East”. This is <strong>the</strong> reason<br />

why foreigners are eager <strong>to</strong> invade our country. Decades passed when<br />

<strong>the</strong> Philippines suffered from <strong>the</strong> invasion of different nations – Spaniards,<br />

Japanese, Americans among o<strong>the</strong>rs. They brought disasters not only <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

properties of <strong>the</strong> Filipinos but also traumatic events.<br />

June 12, 1898 marked <strong>the</strong> day of <strong>the</strong> Filipino freedom declared by Emilio<br />

Aguinaldo – Philippine Independence. In a layman’s term, independence is<br />

simply freedom - freedom from cruel invaders, freedom from enemies and<br />

freedom <strong>to</strong> inherit and cultivate <strong>the</strong> land where Filipinos born and live.<br />

Now let’s take a look <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> following viewpoints of young <strong>La</strong>sallian students<br />

on <strong>the</strong> 111th Independence of <strong>the</strong> Philippines. Let’s also figure out if <strong>the</strong>se<br />

students still remember <strong>the</strong> national heroes who saved our country fromconquerors.<br />

this freedom Do students of <strong>the</strong> modern times recognized <strong>the</strong> people who<br />

once sacrificed <strong>the</strong>ir lives for <strong>the</strong> nation’s sake Come, let’s meet <strong>the</strong>se young<br />
