Chapter 6 Residential Strategy, Chapter 7 Inclusive Neighbourhoods and Chapter 16 Development Management<br />
outline the City Councils requirements for sustainable residential communities<br />
Spatial Planning and National Roads Guidelines (2012)<br />
Chapter 5, ‘Transportation and Mobility’ and in particular paragraphs 5.12-5.17 and Objectives 5.1e., 5.6, 5.7,<br />

Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Guidelines (2004)<br />
Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is the process by which environmental considerations are required<br />
to be fully integrated into the preparation and adoption of plans and programmes. The results of the SEA process<br />
were fully considered and integrated into the preparation and making of the Draft City Development Plan and<br />
are outlined in <strong>Volume</strong> 4 of this Plan.<br />

Draft Guidelines for Landscape and Landscape Assessment (2000)<br />
Cork City Landscape Strategy 2008 has been incorporated into the Draft City Plan (Chapter 10 Landscape and<br />
Natural Heritage), and addresses landscape issues. The Guidelines are geared towards rural landscapes rather<br />
than urban landscapes so are not directly relevant to the preparation of the Draft City Plan.<br />

Cork City Council carried out a Strategic Flood Risk Assessment of the policies and objectives contained in this<br />
plan in accordance with the above Guidelines. This assessment is contained in <strong>Volume</strong> 4.<br />
Tree Preservation Guidelines<br />
Chapter 10, Landscape and Natural Heritage lists the exiting TPOs and recommends additional TPOs to be<br />
prepared in a range of locations in the city (paragraphs 10.62-69 and Objective 10.10).<br />
Wind Energy Development Guidelines (2006)<br />
Due to the urban nature of the Plan area there is little scope for development of significant wind energy in the<br />
city. There may be some scope for micro turbines (See paragraph 12.34).<br />
