President Jeff Purdon set<br />

1983 a goal of 70% attendance at<br />

the 30th reunion. Tony Furey, John<br />

Forrey, J.B. Reilly, Dave Gleason,<br />

Bob Mahr, Diane Goldsmith, Dennis<br />

Gillooly, Nancy Freeborne-Brinton,<br />

and Cheryl Johnson have committed<br />

to attend.<br />

Sarah Sheeleigh Jeffers wrote<br />

that her father, Ken Sheeleigh ’51,<br />

passed away March 4. In the fall, he<br />

enjoyed time at <strong>Lafayette</strong> with her<br />

middle daughter, Amanda Sheeleigh<br />

Jeffers ’15, who is the fourth generation<br />

and eighth family member to attend<br />

the <strong>College</strong>.<br />

Dr. Tony Furey was surprised this<br />

winter with a 50th birthday celebration<br />

in Wilmington, Del. The party was<br />

coordinated by wife Kathy and his<br />

four children.<br />

Michael Browne saw John “Red”<br />

Forrey at an NCAA basketball event,<br />

which was also attended by Tim<br />

“Rodney” Lucas and J.B. Reilly.<br />

John has three sons, the eldest of<br />

whom attends Yale, and has been<br />

married to Debbie for 25 years.<br />

memories and current news related<br />

to Greg Ginsberg ’82, Alan Good<br />

Jr. ’78, and Tucker Troxell during<br />

dinner at Elio’s in Manhattan.<br />

Bruce Castor was elected to a<br />

second term as commissioner of<br />

Montgomery County, Pa., which<br />

follows his service as district attorney<br />

for the county. Bruce has been married<br />

to Elizabeth for 23 years, and they<br />

have two children, Bruce III ’14 and<br />

Alexandra, a senior in high school.<br />

Bruce III represents the third generation<br />

of Castors to attend <strong>Lafayette</strong>; Bruce’s<br />

father, Bruce Castor I ’51, remains<br />

active in alumni affairs. Bruce stays in<br />

touch with Dick Hughes, who serves<br />

as judge of Court of Common Pleas<br />

in Luzerne County, Pa.<br />

and Community Health, was named<br />

acting assistant department<br />

Michael A. Raynor was<br />

1984 nominated by President<br />

Obama to be U.S. Ambassador to<br />

Republic of Benin in Africa. A career<br />

member of Senior Foreign Service,<br />

Michael’s foreign postings were as<br />

general services officer at the U.S.<br />

Embassy in Brazzaville, Republic of<br />

the Congo; consular officer at the<br />

embassy in Luxembourg; and<br />

management officer at the embassies<br />

in Djibouti City, Djibouti; Conakry,<br />

Guinea; and Windhoek, Namibia.<br />

Michael also served as desk officer<br />

for Zimbabwe and legislative management<br />

officer and special assistant in<br />

Bureau of Legislative Affairs. He was<br />

management counselor at the U.S.<br />

Embassy in Harare, Zimbabwe,<br />

2004–08. He then served as deputy<br />

executive director of African Affairs<br />

Bureau, 2008–10, and as executive<br />

director, 2010–11. Michael, who<br />

received his bachelor’s and master’s<br />

in international affairs at Columbia<br />

University, has specialized in relations<br />

with Africa. He will be <strong>Lafayette</strong>’s<br />

second serving ambassador. (Marcia<br />

Bloom Bernicat ’75 is ambassador<br />

to Senegal and Guinea-Bissau.)<br />

Michael is married to Kathleen,<br />

and they have two children.<br />

Guy Holman is a certified financial<br />

planner professional and certified<br />

public accountant for TCI Wealth<br />

Advisors Inc. Guy, who manages the<br />

firm’s Denver office, became a partner<br />

in January. He has provided financial<br />

and investment advice for more than<br />

24 years (see photo online).<br />

Meg Watters Rodriguez and Jenny<br />

Keenan have been walking and jogging<br />

around the lakes of Minneapolis. Meg<br />

and husband Tony have met with Jenny<br />

several times for dinner since she<br />

relocated to Minneapolis last year. The<br />

Rodriguezes’ two eldest daughters are<br />

both at Princeton. While visiting for<br />

parents weekend at Princeton, Meg drove<br />

to <strong>Lafayette</strong> to watch niece Grace in her<br />

cross country races at Metzgar Fields.<br />

The <strong>Lafayette</strong> experience has also kept<br />

Meg connected to Claudia Mitchell<br />

Weisberg, Barb Murphy LaChance,<br />

and Barb Strasburg Tucker.<br />

Barb Murphy LaChance and<br />

family will also be moving to the<br />

Twin Cities. Barb’s husband, Mike,<br />

is already there, working for Vital<br />

Images in Minnetonka. Barb’s two<br />

eldest sons are at Penn State, while<br />

her youngest will begin his first<br />

year in high school in Minnesota.<br />

Since November, Nancy Bennett<br />

Gallagher, Diane Gaglia Gottschalk,<br />

Maureen Davis Bibeau, Paula<br />

Polgardy Kumpf, and Kris Huber<br />

Rudisill have been celebrating each<br />

other’s 50th birthdays over lunch each<br />

month (see photo online). Kris put<br />

together a PowerPoint presentation<br />

with photos of their college days and<br />

postgraduation events. Kris planned<br />

to head to Rensselaer Polytechnic<br />

Institute to watch her daughter’s<br />

softball game. While there, she hoped<br />

to visit with Beth Illingworth, who<br />

is a chaplain at RPI.<br />
