Elizabeth Helwig graduated from<br />

University of Connecticut School of<br />

Dental Medicine in May and is in a<br />

pediatric dental residency at University<br />

of Medicine and Dentistry, New Jersey.<br />

Capt. Dane Hanson completed his<br />

master’s degree in engineering<br />

management at Missouri University of<br />

Science and Technology and Engineer<br />

Captains’ Career Course in Missouri. He<br />

also graduated from U.S. Army Ranger<br />

School, earning his Ranger tab and senior<br />

parachutist wings. He is stationed at<br />

Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, where he<br />

serves as assistant brigade engineer for<br />

Second Brigade, 25th Infantry Division.<br />

Michael Elzinga and Bonnie Hoy<br />

welcomed their second son, Connor<br />

Michael, on Nov. 16.<br />

University of Pennsylvania’s nursing<br />

school with a BSN and RN in December.<br />

During her final semester, she researched<br />

strategies for maintaining healthy<br />

pregnancies. She will pursue a career<br />

in pediatrics.<br />

Joseph Lanzot accepted a position<br />

as an assistant prosecutor at Hudson<br />

County (N.J.) prosecutor’s office and<br />

is assigned to the Special Victims Unit.<br />

and New Jersey in July. He is employed<br />

as an associate attorney at the law firm<br />

of Stuckert and Yates, based in<br />

Newtown, Pa.<br />

Michelle Donofrio is global<br />

coordinator for trade marketing at<br />

Fresh Inc., a luxury skincare company in<br />

New York. She works with Fresh Retail<br />

stores and Sephora International stores,<br />

including those in Singapore, Malaysia,<br />

Canada, and Mexico. She lives in<br />

Hoboken, N.J., along with Greg<br />

Lippert, Pat O’Neill ’07, Christine<br />

Welsh, Kyle Roeder, Michael Di<br />

Paola, Jack Thomson, and Kody<br />

Babcock ’09. Michelle looks forward<br />

to being a bridesmaid in the fall 2012<br />

wedding of Christine Welsh and<br />

Kyle Roeder.<br />

Lia Mandaglio graduated from<br />

George Washington University Law<br />

School, with multiple publications, and<br />

started as global finance associate at<br />

Alston & Bird LLP in Manhattan. In<br />

February 2011, Lia co-founded Athlete<br />

Ally, a nonprofit organization that<br />

encourages athletes, coaches, parents,<br />

fans, and other members of the sports<br />

community to respect all individuals<br />

involved in sports, regardless of<br />

perceived or actual sexual orientation,<br />

gender identity, or gender expression.<br />

The organization has achieved<br />

significant success, being featured by<br />

The New York Times, Washington Post,<br />

MSNBC, EPSN, and other media<br />

outlets. It established ambassador<br />

programs at dozens of colleges and<br />

universities around the country. In<br />

addition, Lia married her long-time<br />

partner and Athlete Ally co-founder,<br />

Hudson Taylor, in Washington, D.C.,<br />

on Sept. 24 (see photo online). The<br />

couple resides in NYC and will change<br />

their surnames this spring to Parifax,<br />

which means “with the same flame.”<br />

Christine Fitzherbert married<br />

Sam Singer on Oct. 23, 2010, in<br />

South Jersey. The bridal party included<br />

Kathleen Reddington (maid of<br />

honor), Marjorie Schmidt, Caitlin<br />

Ward, and Jesse Hatgis. Also attending<br />

were Elena Dones ’07, Megan<br />

Chawner, Deni Deliallisi ’09, Zac<br />

Zamore ’09, and John Livanos ’10.<br />

The couple resides in Hasbrouck<br />

Heights, N.J., where they are hard at<br />

work on their new home. Christine<br />

works in Pfizer’s vaccines department.<br />

Sam works at Langan Engineering in<br />

NYC and expected to receive his<br />

master’s in geotechnical engineering<br />

this past May.<br />

at Medill School of Journalism.<br />

Vanessa VanDeVenter started<br />

Dynamic Sports Development, which<br />

offers specialized sports training and<br />

education resources/business services<br />

to student athletes who aspire to<br />

play beyond high school and to<br />

their families.<br />

Joanna Norelli and Michael Platt<br />

were married May 28, 2011.<br />

Karla Barbiche Brawner and<br />

husband Ian had their first child,<br />

Brinn, on July 12, 2011.<br />

Erin Zimmermann, who lives in<br />

Houston, is working in turbomachinery<br />

service engineering for GE Oil & Gas.<br />

Ashley Richards teaches biology in<br />

an alternative education classroom for<br />

Tulpehocken Area High School in<br />

Bernville, Pa. She and Jeremy Pastor<br />

were married Oct. 29.<br />

Laura Ellman and Brad Maurer ’07<br />

planned to marry this June.<br />

Carolyn Romney expected to<br />

graduate in June from the MBA<br />

program at University of Rochester’s<br />

Simon School of Business, at which she<br />

studied strategy, finance, and marketing.<br />

In July, she expects to begin as assistant<br />

brand manager at Novartis Consumer<br />

Health in Parsippany, N.J.<br />

Mary Rollyson and Jamison<br />

Caldwell ’07 wed April 28 in Maryland<br />

in the presence of family, friends, and<br />

many alumni. The couple lives in Fells<br />

Point, Baltimore.<br />
