Sullivan on Oct. 14 in Baltimore.<br />

and Michael own a home outside of<br />

Baltimore and have two Italian<br />

Ryann Dubiel is engaged<br />

2004 to Jonathan Nickerson<br />

(Colby, 2004; Lehigh, 2007). The<br />

couple, who lives in Denver, plans to<br />

wed Sept. 1 in Gloucester, Mass. Ryann<br />

was promoted to communications and<br />

organizing director at an education<br />

and public policy nonprofit that works<br />

with Latina youth and focuses on<br />

reproductive justice. She accepted<br />

a 2012 fellowship with a statewide<br />

progressive leadership institute.<br />

Danielle Fecso Bartko and husband<br />

Bob had their first child, Anna Veronika,<br />

on Aug. 31, 2010 (see photo online).<br />

Danielle was hired as a varsity pitching<br />

and junior varsity head softball coach<br />

at Upper St. Clair High School in<br />

Pittsburgh. For the past four years,<br />

she has taught middle school math<br />

and science at Three Hierarchs Eastern<br />

Orthodox School in Pittsburgh.<br />

Jessica Merkel-Keller is a resident<br />

in the psychiatry department at Johns<br />

Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, with<br />

a research focus in mood and<br />

affective disorders.<br />

Kristen Logar is engaged to Lee<br />

William Kleckner (Lehigh); a Sept. 29<br />

wedding is planned. Kristen graduated<br />

from Rutgers University School of Law.<br />

Jennifer White was promoted to<br />

assistant athletic director of compliance<br />

and student services at Temple University.<br />

She earned her master’s in sports<br />

management from Neumann <strong>College</strong><br />

in May 2007.<br />

Justin Pettigrew married Danielle<br />

Goshert on July 30, 2011, in Wilmington,<br />

Del. (see photo online). Attending<br />

were best man Chris Holland, Greg<br />

Gibbs ’05, John-Frank Stubits ’05,<br />

Wes Erbe ’05, Joe Ungrady ’05, and<br />

Brian “Bo” Carstens ’05. Justin works at<br />

NuVasive as a spine specialist, and<br />

Danielle is a hospital account manager<br />

for Otsuka Pharmaceuticals. They live<br />

in Clarks Green, Pa.<br />

Stephanie Stawicki expects to receive<br />

her master’s in development practice<br />

(international development) with a<br />

specialization in water governance and<br />

management from Emory University<br />

this August. She interned with CARE<br />

International in Atlanta and Addis Ababa,<br />

Ethiopia. This summer, Stephanie expects<br />

to complete her final field practicum<br />

in Burkina Faso and Ghana with<br />

International Water Management<br />

Institute. After graduation, she hopes to<br />

obtain a job in federal, emerging market,<br />

or international development consulting.<br />

Tom Gauntner was voted Mid-<br />

Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association<br />

(MACFA) Coach of the Year for the<br />

second time in his five-year career at<br />

<strong>Lafayette</strong>. The team’s final record<br />

was 20–12. Three fencers qualified<br />

for individual finals of MACFA<br />

championships, while nine qualified<br />

for the NCAA Tournament.<br />

M.K. Asante was featured speaker at<br />

the 17th Annual Salem State University<br />

Black Symposium. Author of three<br />

celebrated books, M.K. is a recipient of<br />

the Langston Hughes Award. He also<br />

directed The Black Candle, a film he<br />

co-wrote with renowned poet Maya<br />

Angelou, who narrates the prizewinning<br />

film. M.K. wrote and produced 500<br />

Years Later, winner of five international<br />

film festival awards as well as the United<br />

Nations’ Breaking the Chains award.<br />

Elizabeth “Texas” Schaefer lives in<br />

Washington, D.C., with Melissa<br />

Grandis. Liz is a U.S. history teacher at<br />

Paul Public Charter School and happily<br />

adopted a lively dog named Peanut.<br />

Alex Karapetian married Leslie<br />

Azarian (George Washington, 2004)<br />

on Nov. 19 in Manhattan (see photos<br />

online). Leslie is a director within<br />

institutional securities operations at<br />

Morgan Stanley in Brooklyn, for which<br />

she manages a team that oversees<br />

account reference data. Alex is director<br />

of sales and marketing at Acopian<br />

Technical Company, a family-owned<br />

company in Easton that manufactures<br />

commercial power conductors. There<br />

was a large <strong>Lafayette</strong> presence to<br />

celebrate their big day.<br />

2005<br />

Jillian Carpenter was<br />

sworn in last June as a<br />

N.J. deputy attorney general. She is<br />

assigned to the financial and computer<br />

crimes bureau. Jillian also became<br />

engaged in May 2011 to a Lehigh<br />

graduate, Matt Krantz. Their wedding<br />

is set for Sept. 22 in Princeton, N.J.<br />

Emily James O’Connor and Jess<br />

Stake ’06 are bridesmaids.<br />

Peter Gray is engaged to Kara<br />

Cotich (Union <strong>College</strong>, 2004). The<br />

couple plans to wed in May in southern<br />

Maine. Pete completed his MBA at<br />

Boston University with high honors and<br />

works in financial planning and analysis<br />

at Bain & Company in Boston.<br />

Barbara Woodfin graduated from<br />

University of Tulsa with a Ph.D. in<br />

English literature. Her dissertation was<br />

“Disarranging the Interlude”: Transitional<br />

Subjects in British Women’s Fiction<br />

(1927-1949). She is engaged to Zachary<br />

Waxman (University of Missouri, 2005;<br />

University of Tulsa Law, 2009), a<br />

practicing attorney in Oklahoma. The<br />

couple bought their first house in Tulsa.<br />

Andrew Segan and LeAnn<br />

Dourte ’05 are engaged. They plan<br />

to marry Aug. 3 in Lancaster, Pa. After<br />

earning a master’s in cell and molecular<br />

biology at University of Pennsylvania,<br />

Andrew worked briefly at Lankenau<br />

Hospital as a research assistant. He moved<br />

into medical communications and was<br />

promoted to project manager at Synergy<br />

Medical Education. In October, LeAnn<br />

finished her Ph.D.in bioengineering at<br />

Penn and stayed on as a teaching professor.<br />

The couple lives in Haverford, Pa.<br />
