Westminster: Your choice for secondary school // Apply online at www.westminster.gov.uk/admissions
Which school
Deciding your school preferences
Before you decide which schools to apply for and
your order of preference, we strongly advise that
you read the guidance within this booklet. Information
about each school in Westminster is contained within
the schools information section (see pages 20-60).
This section also contains information about the
admission arrangements for all the schools and
Academies in Westminster.
Under the Pan-London Co-ordinated Admissions
System, you can also apply for schools outside
Westminster. You should contact the Local Authority
in which the school is situated for further details about
the school and its admission arrangements.
Each school also issues its own prospectus (available
from schools direct) which gives further information
about the school. We would also recommend that you
visit each school that you are interested in. Details
about school open days and evenings in Westminster
are given on page 11.
You are strongly advised to name at least three schools
on the Local Authority Application Form and to include
your local community schools and Academies in your
preferences. Failure to do so will restrict our ability to
offer you a place at a school if your other preferences
cannot be met.
Academies and voluntary aided (church) schools have
their own admission criteria and it is important that you
check these criteria to see whether your child is eligible
for a place. If applying for a place at a faith school on
religious grounds, you will be required to provide proof
of your church attendance and/or religious commitment
on the school’s supplementary form. (Please note that if
a school is heavily oversubscribed, meeting the
admission criteria for an individual school does not
guarantee a place.)
Please remember that not all schools give priority to
children with siblings already attending the school.
Making an application for a place at a school does not
guarantee a place for your child.
All voluntary aided schools (and some Academies and
foundation schools) have additional supplementary
forms to complete, which are available from the
schools direct. The schools in Westminster which
require you to complete supplementary forms are listed
on page 15 in the section ‘School supplementary
forms’. If you are applying for a place at one of these
schools you must also complete the school’s
supplementary form.
Please remember that most schools will receive more
applications than there are places, in which case they
will give places first to children who have the highest
priority under the school's admission criteria.
