Paddington Academy
Paddington Academy opened in September 2006
as one of two new Academies that replaced North
Westminster Community School. From September 2007
it will be housed in a brand new building with state-ofthe-art
facilities.
The Academy has 1,175 places available to local
young people in accordance with the agreed
admissions policy. All places will be free with no
fees paid by parents. The Academy is sponsored
by the United Learning Trust, a registered charity.
The Academy sixth form caters for 275 students from
the local community who have the opportunity to study
a variety of academic and vocational subjects. As
senior students in the Academy they play an active
role in supporting younger students in their academic
progress, alongside completing their own studies.
Aims
Along with its 12 sister Academies sponsored by the
United Learning Trust, Paddington Academy provides a
high quality education based on the Christian principles
of service and tolerance and has an ethos that
welcomes students and staff of all faiths and no faith.
Its mission statement is to bring out “The Best in
Everyone” – students, staff, parents, governors and the
wider community.
At Paddington Academy, effective teaching and a wellordered
environment promote an enjoyment of learning
and a sense of personal fulfilment among students.
Academy life is structured around four core principles –
care, tolerance, discipline and hard work – which have
been chosen to serve the needs of its students,
ensuring that each of them is able to fulfil his/her
potential, whatever their starting point.
