SHMA: Torridge and <strong>North</strong> <strong>Devon</strong> Update<br />

Key findings:<br />

• Nearly one third (31.0%) of households within ICLV were single person<br />

households compared to 27.9% in <strong>North</strong> <strong>Devon</strong> overall. 29.3% of households<br />

in SM and 28.0% of households in TTTRF were single person households.<br />

These SMAs relate to the main towns and more urban areas.<br />

• Only just over one fifth (22.6%) of households in EXDF were single person<br />

households, nearly one quarter (24.7%) in CWCHV and nearly one quarter<br />

(24.8%) in DRA. These SMAs relate to the predominantly rural areas.<br />

• Almost one third (31.4%) of households in DRA were pensioner households<br />

compared to 27.9% in <strong>North</strong> <strong>Devon</strong> overall. 30.9% of households in SM were<br />

pensioners and 30.3% of households in CWCHV.<br />

• Less than one quarter (24.6%) of households in EXDF were pensioners.<br />

More than one quarter (27.3%) of households in ICLV were pensioner<br />

households and 27.8% of households in TTTRF were pensioners.<br />

• More than one quarter (26.0%) of households in EXDF and in TTTRF (25.9%)<br />

had dependent children compared to just under one quarter (24.9%) in <strong>North</strong><br />

<strong>Devon</strong>.<br />

• Less than one fifth of households (19.4%) in CWCHV had dependent children.<br />

23.0% of households in DRA, 23.4% of households in SM and 23.6% of<br />

households in ICLV had dependent children.<br />

5.15 Household income is an essential factor in identifying access to housing. The<br />

following table profiles household incomes for each SMA by income bands.<br />
