Early in their development stages these devices used wet-film cameras to record alleged<br />

violators’ actions. This required a police <strong>of</strong>ficer to manually retrieve the film, have it developed,<br />

<strong>and</strong> then it required visual inspection to obtain a license plate number. When Charge Coupled<br />

Device (CCD) cameras became available in digital cameras, they replaced the film camera. The<br />

pictures could now be recorded on flash drives, saving the time <strong>and</strong> expense <strong>of</strong> developing film.<br />

However, an <strong>of</strong>ficer still had to retrieve the flash drive. With the proliferation <strong>of</strong> wireless<br />

communications devices, it should only be a matter <strong>of</strong> time before a company like Hi-Tech<br />

Solutions replaces the wired connections in the diagram below with wireless connections via<br />
