2.2 Connections<br />

2.2.1 Basic connection<br />

When connecting the keypad with the inverter or connecting the inverter with a host such as<br />

personal computer or PLC, use a standard LAN cable (straight for 10BASE-T). A converter is<br />

necessary to connect a host not equipped with <strong>RS</strong>-<strong>485</strong> interface.<br />

FRENIC-Eco/Multi/MEGA:<br />

The figure below shows the method of connecting the keypad to the keypad connector of the inverter.<br />

Cable: extension cable for remote operations (CB-5S, CB-3S, or CB-1S) or commercial LAN<br />

cable<br />

- For the keypad, be sure to turn off the terminating resistor.<br />

- Keep wiring length 20m or less.<br />

- For FRENIC-Mini, only the remote keypad is available. In addition, the <strong>RS</strong>-<strong>485</strong><br />

communications card (option) is necessary for connection.<br />
