CLOGGED AIR<br />
A clogged air cleaner restricts the engine´s air intake, increasing fuel<br />
consumption, reducing engine power, and causing spark plug fouling.<br />
WARNING<br />
A clogged air cleaner may allow dirt and dust to enter the carburetor<br />
and stick the throttle open. This could cause an accident.<br />
CAUTION<br />
A clogged air cleaner may allow dirt and dust to enter the engine<br />
causing excessive wear and possible engine damage.<br />
Inspect the element, without fail, before and after each racing or<br />
practice session. Clean it if necessary.<br />

WARNING<br />
Clean the element in a well-ventilated area, and take care that there<br />
are no sparks or flame anywhere near the working area; this includes<br />
any appliance with a pilot light. Do not use gasoline or a low flashpoint<br />
solvent to clean the element. A fire or explosion coluld result.<br />

- Remove the filter cover (A)<br />
- Remove the wing bolt (B)<br />
and pull out the element (C).<br />
- Stuff a clean, lint-free towel into the carburetor so no dirt is allowed<br />
to enter the carburetor.<br />
CAUTION<br />
Do not spin the filter on its cage. It is possible to tear or damage the<br />
filter.<br />
- Wipe out the inside of the air cleaner housing with a clean damp<br />
towel.<br />
- Take the support cage<br />
(B) off the frame (A).
