EHEDG, QHD and GOST<br />
The design, materials used and surface finish are subject<br />
to a variety of national and international rules and regulations,<br />
such as the EHEDG recommendations, the QHD<br />
criteria and the GOST standard.<br />

The EHEDG (European Hygienic Engineering & Design<br />
Group) develops guidelines and test methods for the<br />
safe and hygienic processing of food.<br />
This ensures the microbiological safety of the end<br />
product, for example the pumped medium.<br />
The EHEDG symbol is used by manufacturers to indicate<br />
compliance with the EHEDG recommendations.<br />
QHD<br />

The QHD (Qualified Hygienic Design) is a two-phase<br />
testing system for the hygienic design and cleanability<br />
of components, machinery and plant for aseptic or<br />
sterile applications.<br />
This ensures that all surfaces can be cleaned in place<br />
(CIP).<br />
The QHD symbol is used by manufacturers to indicate<br />
compliance with the QHD criteria.<br />

GOST is the Russian word for "standard", the R (P) stands<br />
for Russia. For most products, certification is needed if<br />
they wish to sell in Russia. The main products concerned<br />
are these:<br />
• materials in contact with food and human beings<br />
• industrial equipment for food, chemical, oil and gas,<br />
construction and other industries<br />
• mechanical and electrical goods.<br />
Also concerned are consumer products such as foodstuffs,<br />
textiles and clothes, cosmetics and perfumery,<br />
domestic goods and toys.<br />
The certificate can be valid for a one-time-only shipment<br />
or for a period of 1 or 3 years.<br />
Certificates and approvals<br />
Grundfos offers the following certificates and approvals:<br />
• Hygienic design certificates<br />
(certificates guaranteeing compliance with the<br />
EHEDG recomendations, QHD criteria and GOST<br />
standard).<br />
• Material certificates<br />
(certificates stating material specifications).<br />
• Performance certificates<br />
(test reports guaranteeing and certifying test data of<br />
QH, current consumption, speed, curves, etc.).<br />
• Authorized test by third party<br />
(surveyed performance test).<br />
• ATEX-approved sanitary <strong>pumps</strong><br />
(according to ATEX Directive 94/9/EC).<br />
The certificates must be ordered with the pump.<br />
