STAFF AND ALUMNI ASSOCIATION 3306 Rochambeau Avenue, 2nd floor 718-920-5260 President Manash Dasgupta, MD Executive Director 718-920-5260 Margaret Pinsker 718-515-7083 Fax The mission of the Montefiore Staff and Alumni Association is to enhance and strengthen the relationship between Montefiore Medical Center (MMC) and its medical staff and alumni through the development of programs that foster education, fellowship and service. Founded by a group of attending physicians in 1914, the Association has always been involved with patient and community needs and has acted as a strong advocate for the rights of house staff. The Staff and Alumni Association sponsors the following programs and services: • Annual Dinner Dance and Awards Night • Receptions at medical meetings • Annual Career Night program for medical center house staff • Support of a medical center archivist • Publication of bi-annual Newsletter • Scholarship Prize given annually to an AECOM graduate • Support of the Health Science Library of the Tishman Learning Center • Sponsorship of the annual outstanding House Officer Award and the Henry L. Moses Prize for basic science and clinical research • Biennial symposia on medical trends and technology • Membership Directories • Emergency Loan Fund for physicians in need • Memorial portrait project Membership is open to MMC: 1) graduates of medical, dental and physician assistant training programs, 2) current and former members of the attending staff and 3) PhD's in the Behavioral and Basic Sciences. The membership year is from July I - June 30. All programs, activities and benefits offered by the Association are underwritten by membership dues. Dues are $60 per year; $30 per year for junior members who are less than five years out of training. Graduating house staff are offered a one-year complimentary membership which entitles them to all member benefits. A Life Membership for payment of $1,000 is also available, which provides all member benefits in perpetuity. Life members are recognized on a plaque in the Staff and Alumni Conference Room. Office Coordinator Lillian Zambardino 718 920-5601 Moses The Telecommunications Department provides operations and maintenance of all aspects of voice communication throughout the Medical Center. This includes all areas of telephone service; incoming and outgoing calls, paging, information service, planning equipment service and repairs, new installations, moves and/or changes to existing telephone system, distribution of voice and digital pagers, preparation of in-house pocket directories, monitoring of billings related to telecommunications, participation in planning and implementation of capital projects. Providing high quality volunteer services while giving the volunteer a satisfying experience and appropriate support, the Department coordinates internships, summer programs and school/adult work experience programs. It provides all resources necessary to meet departmental needs and to provide a conducive environment to volunteer/staff growth and productivity. Interviews by appointment only. 149
