PART C REMUNERATION AND PERFORMANCE<br />
SALARY INCREASES<br />
57. Agency salary scales, including increases to be applied over the life of this <strong>Agreement</strong>, are set out in<br />
Schedule 1.<br />
JOB CLASSIFICATION<br />
Classification structure<br />
58. The classification structure, including training classifications, for Agency employees is set out in<br />
Schedule 1.<br />
Work level standards<br />
59. Positions in the Agency are classified in accordance with the Agency work level standards and the<br />
responsibilities and work requirements of the position. The CEO may review the work level standards<br />
during the life of this <strong>Agreement</strong>.<br />
Task broadening<br />
60. The CEO may assign an employee to any duties that are within the limits of the employee’s skill,<br />
competence and training, and consistent with the classification structure and Agency work level<br />
standards.<br />
Graduate APS employees<br />
61. A Graduate APS employee must undertake a course of training decided by the CEO.<br />
62. If the CEO is satisfied that the employee has successfully completed the course of training, the<br />
employee will be allocated the substantive classification of APS level 3 and subsequently be<br />
advanced to the maximum pay point of that classification.<br />
Trainee APS (Administrative) employees<br />
63. An employee recruited as a Trainee APS (Administrative) must complete the Public Administration<br />
Traineeship or an alternative program approved by the CEO.<br />
64. Subject to relevant provisions relating to junior rates, if the CEO is satisfied that the employee has<br />
successfully completed the traineeship or program the employee will be allocated the operational<br />
classification of APS Level 1 and paid at the minimum pay point of the APS Level 1 classification.<br />
REMUNERATION<br />
Salary rates<br />
65. Salary rates payable to Agency employees are set out in Schedule 1.<br />
Salary on starting in a new position<br />
66. The starting salary of an employee who starts duty in a new position on engagement, movement or<br />
promotion is at the minimum pay point for the classification.<br />
67. The CEO may approve a starting salary at a higher pay point than the minimum pay point for the<br />
classification. A starting salary above the minimum may be approved to take account of previous<br />
periods of higher duties by the employee at the classification level of the new position.<br />
68. For a promotion within the Agency, the pay point must not be lower than the pay point at which the<br />
employee would be entitled to be paid if undertaking higher duties in the relevant classification.<br />
69. If, at the time of engagement, movement or promotion, an employee’s salary is set at an incorrect<br />
pay point, the CEO may direct that the employee’s salary be set at the correct pay point.<br />
