SCHEDULE 3 RATES OF HIGHER DUTIES ALLOWANCE<br />

Rate of allowance<br />

1. This provision applies to an employee if:<br />

a. the employee is assigned to perform temporarily all the duties of a position (other than an<br />

SES position) that has a classification higher than the employee’s substantive classification<br />

b. the employee is eligible for payment of higher duties allowance in accordance with the<br />

provisions in this <strong>Agreement</strong><br />

c. clause 3 (below) does not apply.<br />

2. The employee is to be paid higher duties allowance at a rate equal to the difference between the<br />

employee’s salary for the substantive classification and the lowest pay point at the higher classified<br />

position.<br />

3. If the employee’s salary at their substantive classification is greater than the lowest pay point of the<br />

higher classified position, then the employee is to be paid higher duties allowance at the lowest pay<br />

point exceeding the employee’s regular salary.<br />

Rate of allowance etc — acting in SES position<br />

4. This provision applies to an employee if:<br />

a. the employee is assigned to perform all of the duties of an SES position<br />

b. the employee is eligible for payment of higher duties allowance.<br />

5. The employee is to be paid higher duties allowance at a rate (not less than $2,575 a 12 month<br />

period or pro rata for part thereof) decided by the CEO.<br />

6. The CEO may also decide that the employee is entitled to other benefits.<br />

Partial higher duties allowance<br />

7. This provision applies to an employee:<br />

a. if the employee is assigned to perform part of the duties of a position (including an SES<br />

position) that has a classification higher than the employee’s substantive classification<br />

b. the employee is eligible for payment of higher duties allowance.<br />

8. The employee is to be paid higher duties allowance at a rate decided by the CEO.<br />

Retention of salary advancement under performance management framework<br />

9. This provision applies to an employee if:<br />

a. the employee is entitled to higher duties allowance for performing duties of a position at a<br />

higher classification level<br />

b. the employee participates in the Agency’s Performance Management Framework in<br />

relation to the higher classification<br />

c. the employee has been rated as “Performance meets expectations” in relation to the higher<br />

classified position and has been advanced one pay point under the salary advancement<br />

clause (clauses 76-80) in Part C.<br />

10. The employee is to be paid higher duties allowance for temporarily performing duties of the<br />

position, or another position at the same classification level, based on the pay point to which the<br />

employee has advanced.<br />
