Introduction
The FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011 TM took place from 26 June to 17 July and
featured 16 football nations from around the globe.
The list of competing nations was:
Group A Group B Group C Group D
Germany Japan USA Brazil
Canada New Zealand Korea DPR Australia
Nigeria Mexico Colombia Norway
France England Sweden Equatorial Guinea
Each of the teams played three group-stage matches, before the top two teams in each
group progressed to the Quarter-final stage. The games took place at nine venues across
Germany, including stadiums in Berlin, Frankfurt, Moenchengladbach, Sinsheim, Wolfsburg,
Augsburg, Bochum, Dresden and Leverkusen.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup Stadium in Frankfurt played host to the Final match between
Japan and USA, where Japan were victorious after a penalty shoot-out.
