2011 Convention & Exposition
ABOUT THE STRANDS ...
In an effort to support the integration of
technology within the educational system,
TCEA has aligned convention strands to the
following:
SHARE Best Practices Sessions: Presenters
discuss and demonstrate their processes, techniques,
issues, and solutions.
LEARN Personal Professional Development:
Participants will improve or gain skills that further
their professional development plan.
LEAD Sessions in which content is linked to
administration, leadership, and instructional or
informational technology support. Session
attendees benefit from innovative strategies,
latest technology trends, and out-of-the box
solutions that provide the vision to lead and
inspire innovation.
COLLABORATE Opportunities to build Personal
Learning Networks (PLN): These sessions
provide opportunities for attendees to network,
engage, and exchange information with other educational
professionals on technology integration.
PLN’s offer individuals valuable opportunities to
build partnerships and meaningful relationships
that will contribute to professional development,
growth, and accomplishing goals.
WORKSHOP SKILL LEVELS INDICATOR
INTRODUCTION Basic computer knowledge
and mouse skills.
INTERMEDIATE Knowledge of the operating system
and application presented in the workshop.
ADVANCED Considerable knowledge of the operating
system and application being presented.
ALL Appropriate for all participants.
CPE HOURS
Most convention workshops and concurrent
sessions are eligible for Continuing Professional
Education (CPE) Hours. A form for keeping track
of your hours is included on page 179 for your
convenience.

SESSION ROOM CAPACITY
All session rooms are set to the maximum attendance
allowed by the fire marshal. Standing or sitting
in the aisles of session rooms is not permitted.
All participants will be asked to leave the session
room at the end of the session.
TICKETED SESSIONS
Sessions and hands-on workshops that required advanced
registration are indicated by the z symbol.
Limited onsite registration may be available. Inquire
about availability at the onsite registration counter
located on level 1.
TEA UPDATE SESSIONS
Texas Education Agency staff will share information
on the latest statewide initiatives. Sessions are
marked as “TEA Update” throughout the following
pages.
FIRST TIMERS SESSION
Attend the First Timers Session for tips and tricks
to maximize your time at TCEA 2011 and make your
convention a valuable experience. Whether this is
your first TCEA convention or you just want to be
prepared for a week packed full of presentations,
special events, and networking, you don’t want to
miss the TCEA First Timers Session.

Wednesday 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. Ballroom A
TECHSPERTS HELP DESK
The Techsperts are located on level 3 outside of
Room 7. We will make every possible effort to ensure
that your experience in hands-on sessions and
events are successful; however, we are limited to the
support we are authorized to provide.
