Pierre Morlet Champagne
After four generations, Champagne Pierre Morlet et Fils has become
synonymous in France for authentic and handcrafted Champagnes.
Now, wine connoisseurs around the world are discovering the unique harmony
of Pierre Morlet Champagne.
N/V Grande Reserve_________________________ 39.99
74% Pinot Noir 26% Chardonnay
The Grande Réserve blend is modeled after the classic
base of the Cuvée Suivie, also representing all of the
Morlet family’s terroirs of Premiers Crus Avenay-Vald’Or,
Bisseuil and Mutigny and of Grand Cru Aÿ.
Partially fermented in French oak “Demi-Muids” barrels
– a rarity in Champagne – the Grande Réserve also aged
one additional year in the deep caves. More mature flavors and aromas characterized
the Grande Réserve which has built the Pierre Morlet reputation.
N/V Grande Reserve Rosé______________________ 44.99
100% Pinot Noir
Obtained by the “Saigneé” technique, the “Rosé Grande Réserve”
is exclusively comprised of Pinot Noir. Its intense yet delicate
bouquet is dominantly fruity (raspberry, wild strawberries, blackberries)
intermixed with notes of limestone and hazelnut. Fullbodied
and elegant, “Rosé Grande Réserve” displays flavors of
fresh raspberries and pomegranate and a long finish with mineral
notes and a hint of Kirsch. This Rosé Champagne will age gracefully
for a decade.
2002 Millesime____________________________ 54.99
60% Pinot Noir 40% Chardonnay
The Morlet family only selects the best years to produce
their vintage Champagnes. Each of them
is the result of a judicious blend made
out of some of the different family’s
terroirs and representing the characteristics
of a particular year. Therefore the
proportions of both varietals as well as
of the vineyard parcels can vary from one vintage to another.
Each Pierre Morlet Champagne Millesime reflects the originality
that nature gave us in an exceptional year.
With a great ageing potential, vintage Champagnes represents
the ‘Nec plus Ultra’ of the Morlet’s terroirs, expertise
and passion. They are the ultimate choice of the finest
wine connoisseurs.
“Each of these cuvées is produced in very small quantities so readers will want to act
quickly and get on Grand Rêves mailing list.” Wine Advocate
Founded in 2004 by entrepeneur Paul McBride and vineyard manager Ryan
Johnson, Grand Reve introduces a new collaborative approach to winemaking in
Washington State. Ryan Johnson has been growing wine grapes on Red Mountain
for 11 vintages and is the vineyard manager for Ciel du Cheval, Cadence Cara Mia,
Quilceda Galitzine Estate, and DeLille Grand Ciel vineyards, all located within
Washington’s famed Red Mountain AVA.
By utilizing several of Washington State’s most accomplished winemakers: each with
prowess in different winemaking styles, combined with their finest cultivated fruit,
they achieve world-class quality across multiple varietals. This effort is called the
Grand Rêve Collaboration Series, and its all-star cast includes Ben Smith
(Collaboration I), Ross Mickel (Collaboration II), Mark McNeilly (Collaboratin III),
Carolyn Lakewold (Collaboration IV), Chris Gorman (Collaboration V), and James
Mantone (Collaboration VI).
“We intend to show how uncompromising attention to detail, progressive viticulture
practices, deep experience, care and passion in the vineyard can yield profound wines
of finesse, balance and character,” explains Johnson.
Cotes du Rhone Saint Esprit
“T
he brilliant 2009 Cotes du Rhone St.-Esprit
is the best Cotes du Rhone I have ever
tasted from Delas. Seventy percent Syrah, twenty percent
Grenache and the rest Carignan and Mourvedre, this wine comes
primarily form the Cotes du Rhone village of Cairanne.
The wine has great fruit and a sweet raspberry and black
cherry nose with some herbs, licorice, and pepper. Aged
all in tank, the wine is medium to full-bodied and possesses
sweet tannin as well as a long finish.” Rated 90/100,
