Seductive color saturation to the rim.
The nose on the Cabernet Sauvignon
captures what makes this one of the
world’s finest wine grapes — it is an
exotic array of spices, dried herbs, lavender,
charcuterie, mocha, cassis, vanilla,
and ripe red and black fruits. In the very
distant background there is a lovely note
of mint. The wine has incredible density,
with very ripe tannin that is suave on the
palate. The finish is ultra long and pleasant.
This wine is distinctively Walla
Walla and why our valley is becoming an
international focal point for Cabernet.

Beautiful dark color: The warm 2009
vintage produced a very fine and generous
Merlot. It is already drinking
gorgeously. The wine has a stunning
bouquet of berries, fresh blooming flowers,
cedar shavings, and mocha. On the
palate, it is incredibly long, lush, and soft,
with pure fruit and melted caramel. This
is a truly hedonistic Merlot and a fine
example of why I love making this varietal.

Beautiful, dark red color: The nose
exhibits a gorgeous potpourri of flowers,
thyme, and crushed raspberries. On the
palate, the wine is remarkably fresh and
clean with notable levity and lightness
of being, all while retaining surprising
intensity and density. I simply love the
unique way that Sangiovese can achieve
this! The tannin is wonderfully finegrained
and the acid matches perfectly.
Sangiovese is our most challenging
grape to farm—my favorite, and this is
why!

Impossibly complex, mysterious nose
that reveals itself over time. Cassis
liqueur and floral notes open to a bowl
of fresh crushed ripe fruit sprinkled
with cinnamon and notes of cedar and
coffee. It is tight as a drum, but continues
to open beautifully even a week
after uncorking! This is a wine of immediate
gratification, yet it possesses amazing
aging potential. In the mouth, the
wine is loaded with dense ripe fruit,
long and balanced, with tannin and
acid in perfect harmony. I really feel
this wine will stand proudly next to the
world’s finest Bordeauxs upon release,
but especially in 10-15 years

Niepoort’s story begins in 1842 when Dutchman Eduard Kebe established
the firm in the famed Douro winemaking region of Portugal.
When he passed away in 1848, the business was left in the capable hands of
his business partner, F. M. Van der Niepoort. Over 150 years later as the
5th generation to do so, Dirk Niepoort continues to make fortified wines
using the same methods as his ancestors.
Dirk is a true Renaissance man, effortlessly embracing the history and tradition
of Port while also leading the way as one of its most innovative and
creative winemakers. This could be celebrated in no better way than by the
unrivaled collection of Colheitas released from Niepoort’s cellars as well as
by the groundbreaking, still table wines he has created from forgotten old
vines. Dirk is crafting some of the most exciting new wines not only of
Portugal, but all of Europe. From 80+ year old vines of Tinta Amarela and
Touriga Francesa that produce only 1/2 ton per acre in many vintages, the
Redoma embodies the heritage and inherent wealth of Portugal’s vineyards
